The Daily Mirror have an article on the recent discovery of the sequences found in the cash amount distribution.

It is headed as an exclusive, so I'm not sure if any other papers are reporting on the story today. We could see more reports in the press on this over the next few days.

if any contestants knew this they couldve been giving away millions.

EDIT: they have already given away £1.7M in prize money

On average, the show gives away less than £20k per day. If players had spotted the sequence, then - even allowing for players who hit the quarter-million before the sequence became apparent, or those who chose to No Deal the final offer expecting to swap their box for the quarter-million but not being given the chance - that figure would have been about five times higher, probably.

I thought about this. Imagine if you know the £250,000 is on the other side of the room and no deal all the way, knowing that you have 10p in your box.

Then the banker doesn't ring and offer a swap.

I suppose for that amount of money you'd be willing to get on your knees and beg to change boxes.

If that had happened, it would have killed the show anyway, because it would only have been possible if the producers/Banker knew the contents of the boxes, and that would have proven that the whole show was a sham, a fix.

Obviously not significant for that player unless it went to court, but significant for the rest of us that's for sure.

Of course, we've since found that this game is (or at least seems to be) a fair game. And I can't express enough how relieved I am at that.

that'd be a bitch. personally, i'd take the offer that the banker made rather than risking it. but in a situation where a player would get either 10p or £250k you just know that the banker would offer a swap...

We were more or less assured that swaps would always be offered if the £250,000 was still in play since that means everyone has a chance to win the cash regardless of what's in their box.

Who assured you?

There have shows where the swap wasn't offered.

I thought this show was meant to be completely random. I'm using the word random a bit more loosely now.

(a) Production crew members.

(b) Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe any of those shows involved the £250,000 as one of the two boxes, live in play.

(c) It is entirely up to them if they want to offer a swap; logically (disregarding sequences) the player actually obtains no theoretical advantage or disadvantage if they are offered one; it just makes for better telly.

This is why I thought that whoever found the sequences should have kept publically quiet. That way, they can help the contestants bag an extremely nice amount of money. However....now it's become public...Endemol have cottoned on.
