OK, a new feature I thought up recently.

Simply, how long have you been watching DOND for? And have you ever stopped for a bit?

I first started watching this show full time in Oct 2006, though I did miss a few games, and I stopped shortly after Bunney's game.

After that, I didn't see the show again until July '07, where I saw the start of 2p Igor's game, though not the end. And after that, I remember seeing Big Ron's game in April '08, Lance and Posh Charles' games from July that year, and some of the Summer Specials.

And then I don't think I saw the show again until 35k Simon just under a year later (the one where his wife fainted).

And then I didn't see the show again until May 2010, when I saw De's 1p win. And I've been watching ever since, though I did miss a handful of games in late June that year, and a few more in late October-early November of that year.

That's my contribution. Feel free to post your own. :smt023

:snow: :snow2: i saw the first ever show-october 31 '05.i was IMMEDIATELY hooked...
the concept, the potential of the show...i knew i would a) be an avid viewer, and b)i really
wanted to be a contestant.the dream to be in the crazy chair is still alive,i have auditioned,
back in '06,and have a great story of coincidence that links the date the show started-
oct 31-halloween.most folk on here will be well aware of my story, the fact 'dond' started
on this date,to me,is so significant.over the yrs i have been an avid viewer,i have missed
very few games since it started.the whole first quarter millionaire story-Laura-was great.
and,the long wait for the first male qm,whether he has been filmed-or not,has made the
show a must watch.so i would say i have been an avid fan from day one.Noel is a great
host,as he demonstrated so admirably during the live shows.there have been great contestants, ups and downs, highs and lows,4 female qms...and so much more!....'dond'
for me is a show that has stood the test of time, and seems to get better-with the live
shows being a great success.heres to many more yrs of OUR show, the fans.... :smt023

I started watching in Spring/Summer 2009. One of the first games I saw was 12K Jehad's, so it was probably about a week before that. I then saw the Seaside Specials and have watched ever since the start of season 5.

I've been watching since it started in October 2005, and I must've missed about 60 - 70 shows in total (due to being on holiday or being out, and not catching up for whatever reason when I got home).

So that means I've watched about 96% of the 1,830 episodes that have been broadcast so far. Or to put it another way, I've watched about 1,460 hours of DoND. That's quite an alarming figure.

Well when the show started I was 7 years of age. I remember watching an early show (because my mum was watching) and thinking What the hell is this? Eventually, I began to understand the principle of the game but still, I wasn't all that interested. Then, around march or april in 2010 (and by that time I was 12) I sat down one day and watched a full show. it took about 5 minutes for me to realise what I'd been missing out on. I started watching old episodes and looking up stats online so that's how I know about some of the old shows.

I've been following the show from episode 1 (due to commentaries on Bother's Bar) but only used to watch on Saturdays as in the early days, the show wasn't repeated. Only when the More 4 daily repeats started, did I watch every day. I've probably missed about 30 shows since then (mainly when I've been away from home, read the commentary and felt like it wasn't worth catching up on.

Nowadays with no TV repeat the same day, I watch on 4OD on my computer most days .

Watched episode 1. And, I think, almost every episode in the first season (missed a couple on first showing).

Stopped briefly in 2006, but came back. Stopped more enduringly in 2007, and have probably only watched a few dozen games at the time of transmission ever since, relying instead on these commentaries to give me a feel for the still-compelling gameplay without wanting to throw something at Noel through my television.

My first episode was the funny and money one in June 2006-ish. I started to become obsessed around May 2008, and joined here a few months later. My interest died down a few months after that, but I hung around here. I hardly watch the show; it's only when I'm cooking, eating, washing up or cleaning the kitchen at the right time when I watch DOND now. :(

I first became aware of the show at Christmas 2005 when I saw Noel Edmonds on TV and thought "What on earth's this thing he's doing?" And it would have been Simon's game as they were all down about him winning £250 and I thought "What's wrong with that?" as I only caught the end of the show and had no idea what COULD be won!

Think I watched most Saturdays during early 2006 but didn't know the weekday games were repeated on More 4 so didn't see any of those until I was off work once in March 2006, I remember one of the first ones I saw on a weekday was Saj's £50k box win. Then not long after I realised it was on More 4 was hooked from then on - I think Kirsty's £75k win was the earliest I saw on More 4 - as I'd seen Saj, Matt and Kirsty all get big box wins I thought the game must be really easy! :)

But I was really cautious back then, I always thought they should deal whenever they were offered more than £10,000. :)

I watched a few shows late in 2005 and couldn't make any sense of the programme. But persevered and got totally hooked. I think I've missed one episode in 6 years. Noel says that there are people whose whole day revolves around DOND - I'm one of them!

The first game I saw was that of 10p Raj, on 29 November 2005 - and from then on until the autumn of 2008, I missed only a handful of episodes.

Then a decline in interest, coupled with the stresses of university, meant that (like KP) I found myself relying on commentaries instead, and watching only a few games at the time of transmission.

I started watching in November 2005 so I missed the first ones, I record it every day but I have missed a few along the way and try to catch up on the forum.

I have seen over 50 games live in the Dream Factory.

Started with the very first episode, just after I turned 17. I only turned the TV on to watch Des Lynam's first Countdown and then just left it on Channel 4, was hooked instantly! For the next couple of years I only missed a handful of episodes.

My peak of DONDlove was the end of 2006/start of 2007. The games were astonishing, almost the whole 22 were posting on this forum (and frequenting the chatroom) so I felt like I knew them all. And eventually did, but that's another story :p By the end of 2007 I'd fallen out of love with the show, coupled with work/studying getting in the way, so I stopped in New Year 2008 after Clive's game. Seen the occasional one since when it's on and still visit the forum sometimes, but give me a Season 1/2 classic any day :D

I think I've missed about about at most 30 shows at a guess having watched it from second week of first series.

As I've mentioned in previous posts I remember the old 45 minute shows and prefer them to the current hour version.

I started really taking interest in the show around Christmas 2006, and I have never looked back since, I have been hooked since then because I love the show, and would love to be a contestant on there one day. I am set to be an audience member sometime, there is one problem, I live around Gatwick Airport, and we don't go to Bristol very often.

I first became aware of this show in the early days, November 2005. My brother had discovered it and took a particular interest in it. I distinctly remember one of his favourite contestants was Geordie and the devastation when he won £20.

It took me time to bother watching it and one of the first I remember watching was Brenda and WHAT a game to begin, I remember being dazzled at the sheer improbability of the board. But it was Germaine's game that started to hook me, what a fantastic player and a game to match and was shocked to see the 250k in the box. I watched a fair number of games throughout March 2006, which include Mad Sarah, Barbara, Matt and Dave Cheeseman, all very memorable, and it became unmissable at the time of Nancy's game.

And that was it, I never missed a game from that show onwards, right up until late 2007. I also made regular recordings of the show in 2006 and my favourite ones have been transferred from VHS onto my computer drive. And most ironically, it you look at my signature, I never made a recording of Pat M's game and 'overdraft/10k/Steve's' Hannah's game was binned in a clearout in one of the most short sighted and unfathomable decisions I have ever made. Thank goodness for Youtube !

You could just go to Bristol for DOND. If I can make 9 trips from Yorkshire, Gatwick is nearer than me. Of course it depends on whether you drive or not and cost of rail travel.

Became a DoND viewer, I think around the time of Jessica's game in January 2006. If Jessica was her name that is - I think she won £41,000. Or £14,000.

Used to record every day on VHS tapes....from March '06 through to about August '07. No idea what I then did with all those tapes but yes, I was an avid fan for about 2-3 years.

My last viewing was maybe...end of December 2008, early January 2009. Since then I've seen bits of shows here and there but taken no real interest whatsoever in the past few years, to be completely frank. I much preferred as a whole, the show back in 2006 to any time since.

So my viewing history is rich but lasted only from 2006 to 2009....I don't envisage a return to it any time soon either. Well, there is my own contribution :)

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
