What have you done that you would say proves you are a real risk taker in your life ?

I have moved to a completely new and unfamiliar area for work, made a conscious decision to leave when it wasn't working out, yet still moved to another completely new and unfamiliar area for work the following summer, despite being mentally scarred by the previous year's experience.

I'm in a similar vein to KP. I took a risk with my career and changed jobs. More money but looking back, a risk I shouldn't have taken as just 9 months later, I was made redundant.

But it wasn't about the money, it was about the fact that I worked in an uncomfortable environment so I wanted out. That sort of atmosphere where it was like walking into a morgue, low morale. I couldn't deal with it for much longer.

But then life is all about taking risks. I messed up in hindsight, but that said, I didn't regret it. A conscious decision on my part but then I'd rather be in an environment where I'm happy and content with myself than not. I probably could have done better but as a then 18 year old, you gain experience from life, and also you become more worldly-wise, and risks taken, be they for reasons right or wrong.

Phil.

I suppose i had better answer as well

At 15 (almost 16) i moved out and went to live by myself in a caravan that came with a job i had at the time. (not great in the snow lol)
At 18 i agreed to allow a surgeon take a risk with my face by doing an operation that was not essential to me living as a person but that would/did make a great change in my life.
At 21 i agreed to have it re done as it didn't go as well as hoped the 1st time.
At 23 and 118 stitches later i have what you see ;) Not the best on camera lol but a bloody good job done.
I left a secure job to start my own business it only lasted 2 years but i gave it a shot. I then did it again last year. So far so good
At 40 i had my 2nd daughter, She was my 10th pregnancy so i guess you could say i am stubbon and determined when i decide i want something i believe is achievable.

Based on how I watch DOND, I've known to have cross the line between risk and safe

But what have YOU DONE in your life that can prove you are a real risk taker and not just brave behind a computer ?
That sounds nasty and i don't mean it to come across that way so i apologise if it does.
I am not having a go at you or anyone, i just thought it would be an idea to see if some of those who say they are risk takers are able to back it up with some actions they have taken in life. ;)

Well I've done a lot of non-DOND related stuff that makes me a total risk taker. Whether is Go-Karting at high speeds (please don't ask!), or taking a huge gamble on the show and walk away with either low amounts or very high amounts.

However, more often then not (and others can deny this all they want but I don't care), I have tried to imagine being in that person's shoes, playing the game and reading the board.

I'm 56 and still 8 years on my mortgage and risk every month winning the money at the racetrack. I have NO savings at all.

I bet on value and have been in the Gambling Industry ( on both sides of the fence for 28 years ) .

Frankly its why I'm so appalled that 80% of contestants have no idea at all of Odds/Probability/Risk involved etc....so often they get themselves into a situation where there are 4 boxes remaining and they have dealt at "5" and they need both the "big 2 " boxes to go to justify their decision so they have a "1-in-6" chance of having made the right decision i.e. 17% of being correct.

Yes, but if they found 1 of the big 2 boxes first, it would be a 50% chance of it being the right decision.
