Part 1
Part 2

Here we go, last part, slightly later than expected due to manflu. Again, would really appreciate it posting before reading comments. After this, there will be a concluding post as to what your answers to this question reveals.

Here's part 3, in spoiler tags:

You're playing the game for real, with the pilgrims watching, Noel, and the players on the wings. It's very exciting, with a lot of gasps, talking and cheering, and everyone is marvelling at the board in front of you:

£35,000
£50,000
£75,000
£100,000
£250,000

The banker calls, and offers you £98,000. He calls back, and asks to talk to you. He sounds nervous, and is somewhat incomprehensible.

He does say, though, that if you no deal, you will receive an offer after each box. He doesn't know if you want it, but is insistant that is what will happen.
What would you do in this situation? :ponder:

When you're ready, click the reply button above this post. Thanks to all who have posted their comments so far. :)

I'd take advantage of the banker's confusion and ask to be guaranteed that each offer would be close to the mean (knowing that I'd probably no-deal anyone with 1 to open). I wouldn't be no-dealing with the mindset of going to 2-box but to assess each offer on its merits.

Still No-Deal I think. As I said on one of the other topic's, what exactly have I got to lose? With the mean being guaranteed at 2-box, and now an offer after every box, then it's not much.

I'd go on, even if you hit the £250k next box, the worst possible 4-box offer is about £60k. I would only be disappointed I think if I dropped below £50k.

I might turn this down to try and go one more box to get a £100k+ Deal and be on the UKGS All-Time Winners' List actually! But I'd probably end up deciding what the point of that was. :D

Just out of interest, and not really answering your question, but I put this into my calculator thingy and it said £87k, 86% of the mean - but what it doesn't take into account admittedly is minimum win and most player's utility curve indicating they would be perfectly happy with £35k, and to some extent willing to take an out of character gamble in pursuit of the top prize.

Having said that, I'd probably end up going down KP's line of reasoning...
