Hi everyone

I am coming down to Bristol to watch filming next week.

When I came before I stayed in the Ibis Hotel in the city which was a fair distance from the filming studio and was expensive for taxis.

Has anyone any suggestions of hotels with a good location please?

Also still haven't heard from DOND following my audition and receiving a silver ticket last November!!

Thanks for your help. xx

When I went to the contestant reunion in Bristol in April, I had to stay overnight in the city centre. I thought it was going to cost me about £80 to stay overnight.

However, I found a great little hotel called Hotel24Seven, where it cost me £30 to stay for the night. They save on costs because there's no reception - you book online, then they e-mail you your room code, which you punch into a keypad when you arrive. :D (There are staff available off-site by phone in emergencies.)

I thought it'd be a bit grotty as it was so cheap, but it was excellent - one of the best hotels I've stayed in! It was in a converted house, so it was all very new and fresh. The great thing for me was that it was a short walk from where the reunion was being held. You'd probably still have to get a taxi to the studios though, as that would be a really long walk, but I think it's closer to the studios than the Ibis is.

The details of the hotel can be found here - http://www.hotel24seven.com/

Hope this helps. :smt023

If you are using a taxi to the studio then I suggest you ring Cabot Taxies. When the audience team sent me the information pack they mentions Cabot Taxies on their travel sheet as ask to quote "Deal or No Deal" when making a booking. It looks like Endemol West has done a deal with the local firm.

Thanks for the replies so far! I'll give both suggestions a go.

I've been 4 times down to Bristol to be in the audience and stayed in a different hotel each time so I think I'm an expert. In my opinion:

A4 Hotel http://www.a4hotel.co.uk/
Basic bed and breakfast but it's on the same road as the studios about 10 minutes walk away but from Bristol Temple Meads you have to go past the studio to get to it so probably need to get a taxi. Breakfast is included (the rooms are basic but adequate)

Ibis Temple Meads
Only 5 minutes walk from the station (but can be a bit difficult to find - you need to not go out the main doors of the station but turn right, cross a car park and a bridge). Typical Ibis but about 20 minutes walk from the hotel to the studios.

Travelodge Central - Anchor Road
Can be the cheapest option if you find a bargain but not near the studio and would need to get a taxi from the station and back.

Premier Inn King Street
Again can be cheap if you get lucky. Slightly better standard than the Travelodge. About 10-15 walk from the station but about 25 minutes walk to the studio.

Holiday Inn Express
Situated straight ahead of you if you walk out the station and onto the main road. Free breakfast but probably the most expensive option. Have stayed there on a non-Deal related trip to Bristol.

Well, I've probably stayed over about 4 times as well, but every time I've been a bit boring and gone for the cheap option of Travelodge, the rooms are perfectly fine for my requirements, and for the £9 price tag I got for next week, I can't really complain! (Speaking of which, there is a sale tomorrow so Bristol may be included) One snag is that it takes about 30-40 minutes if walking to the studio, doesn't tend to bother me, but the taxi would indeed be expensive.

Elee, I'm going on Monday and Tuesday next week (just the mornings though), so feel free to say hi if you are down there, I'll probably be chatting to '1000+show' Lynn, or showing off some DOND gadget... or possibly laughing at a circa 1992 picture of Noel... :suspect:

Thanks everyone for your replies! I have booked into the Holiday Inn Express as it seems to be walkable to the studio. (I hope!)

Statsman - what a pity, I am going on Thursday morning so I won't see you. It would have been great to put a face to a name! Is anyone else going on Thursday?
I would have liked to watch the afternoon sessions as well but there are no spaces. Also, the first afternoon session would be the filming of my birthday (March 26th).

Thanks for your help! xx

It's definitely walkable and an easy route. Just turn right when you exit the hotel and keep walking on the main road for just under a mile.
