Louise Plays on June 12. She quoted she won something "not lifechanging". She already dealt and was left with a fiver and next to nothing.

My mum works in a school and she isnt allowed time off during term time as she gets lots time off with school holidays.

The college had every right to do it.

She should have realised the consequences before going on. Oh well, you live and learn

I have to say that is fair enough. Obviously DoND was more important to her, thats her choice but she has to live with the consequences.

Yeah well, I don't think she has a leg to stand on, they have every right to sack her.

That's the only problem with Deal or no Deal in that you have to take three weeks or more out of your life to attend and take part. It's okay if you are self-employed or of independant means to spare the time, but very few employers will let their staff take more than two weeks holiday together at any one time without special permission and usually like you to spread it over the year to suit them.

I understand DonD refused to let her play at a later date during the School Holidays saying it was now or never (which wasn't terribly helpful) so Louise was faced with a very difficult choice in taking the time off anyway without the permission of her bosses and going for it.

It's a hard decision to make, and I'd have thought the school would have been just a little more understanding than they seem to have been, but then again, if she had won a 'life changing' (or 'enhancing') sum of money, then who is to say she'd have even gone back to work for them afterwards? Legally she doesn't have a leg to stand on, but I do have some sympathy for her, and I think that both Endomol and the College could have been a little more understanding in helping her play without getting into trouble for it - it is once in a lifetime opportunity after all, and any reasonable employer would surely not stand in your way and do all they could to help.
