(no pun intended!)

Has there ever been a player that has truly done this? 8 box or more?

There have been a few recently (today included) where this hasnt worked.

Tax-free Harry could be an example of this; he dealt the third offer of £20k with only the £100k missing from the power 5 (which, I admit, is probably less stable than it looks), and went on to annihilate the board to a £10/£100 finish in a game that would have seen a lot of people walk away with a tenner!

Harry's is also my favourite 3rd offer OPW. Many on here think Dan's is also top drawer, especially with it only being a £100,000 game

Last I can remember, it has worked Twice but it has also backfired at least 14 times

The best one ever for me was Melanie in June 06, hers was £30k on a similar board to Harry's £20k! :)

If she'd played in 2009, her 3rd offer would have been high-teens, she'd have turned it down and ended up crashing to a blue!

True true...was an amazing one! Back when third offer deals weren't so "taboo" I guess...

There was also Bev who played in June 2008 and dealt at the 3rd offer. I believe that was a banker spanking.

It was, but I think her board was much weaker, if memory serves she had the top 2 but only a couple of other reds.

Bev was the first player since Richard to take the 3rd offer, and while it did little for the "banker's prediction" rubbish floating around at the time, it was probably exactly the sort of game we needed just then...

About 25% of all third-offer Deals turn into banker spankings/OPWs (higher than the equivalent for eight-box or two-box Deals!!).

Daniel, as a statistical player, was the one I remembered most fondly; Melanie's, too, was great.

The one that wasn't quite a spanking but was a big TPW and one of the most influential games in DoND history - Philip from April 2007. He'd hyped up just about everyone seemingly into gambling beyond the point of reason, he mentions his gambling tendencies in the game... then deals at 11-box for £26,000 and the only proveout offer that's higher is the £35,000 at eight-box, after which the game collapses... and two of the next four players Deal at 11-box and the Wakey Winter gives way to a string of cautious Deals going right and Noel humiliated into being slightly less insane!

I know we had a £50k win in 2007 on Christmas Day but that was a Christmas Star game and so was chosen by the production team to be shown on that day (as was Marianne's 1p game last year).
