If Noel is ill, do they postpone filming? Has any one else ever stood in as presenter?

I know of a couple of days they postponed recording when Noel was ill but as far as I know no one has stood in for him :D

But I have been there when he has not been as well as he could be and has been brought drinks etc that were to keep him going, probably something like Lemsip :D

Noel is one of "the old school" and just keeps going, it would not be the same with anyone else :D

He stays in bed and gets his wifey to feed him Lemsip sachets and he vomits over his shirts which explains why they are like that.

Wouldn't Jeff and Rachel have to do a double-length Countdown or something?

(Deal or No Deal is broadcast live, right...?)

Wasn't there a period in 2006 where they couldn't film because he had repetitive strain injury or picking up the phone all the time or something? IIRC there was one show at the start of a new recording week then they had to have a break of 2 weeks or something while they sorted him out!

I remember reading about that when I was in the computer room at school, so yes it must've been during early 2006!

I didn't think they postponed filming because of his RSI though (I'm sure I read that he recovered naturally during the filming breaks). However I think they did postpone it once because he had flu or something, and then they ended up recording on a Saturday to make up for it.

(At least that's what a contestant posted on here ages ago!)

The RSI thing happened around May/June 2006 as I read about it online. I seem to recall he received a Cortisone to kill the pain and I assume they replaced the real Bakelite phone with a fake one (looks like Bakelite but lighter in weight).

They did postpone some recordings in 2006. As H stated, due to Man Flu.
