In following your recaps, I've noticed that players who have gone to the end and opened their box have not done too well lately. I know people love wakey-style OPWs, but when was the last one? When was the last time an OPW has been achieved by someone no-dealing all the offers and taking their box contents?

You don't see so many as when a big value ends up at the end the banker usually does his best to force a deal.

When it's a blue and a low red he often offers low to make a player open the box, and people like to chase losses anyway, so we see more blue box openings, and these are always (to all intents and purposes cos we'll ignore joke offers) OPLs.

The last one where all the offers were declined and taking the highest amount in the game was back where we had that £35,000 in the Box won, forgot who won it though

There's your answer, AArnett ;)

Simon, back on show 1091 (July 2009) got the maximum £35,000 by swapping after accepting the banker's gamble, just to add more drama to an already highly dramatic game! :D

Ok, but that was with the Banker's Gamble. This leads to my next question:

Excluding Banker's Gamble wins, who was the last player to actively no-deal all the offers and take their box contents for an OPW? It seems like AGES since this happened.

By my reckoning it was Pauline on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May, she struggled through a trainwreck to find £5,000 in her box. I've racked my brains thinking of games since! :)

Yes, you are right James - what a great memory you've got! :D Would you believe that's nearly 100 shows ago!

I think you're right, Granitecitybino. Laura and her £35,000 must make it a Wakey-Style OPW. She went all the way when others would have dealt at 8 box or 5 box or with that little extra bit of courage, maybe even at 2 box.

Phil.
