According to some of the newspapers, including The Sun, Deal Or No Deal will air twice daily during The World Cup. What a horrible dilemma if you have to choose between two addictions! I plan to watch the footie and DOND if that is possible. For DOND fans who don't like football, a great alternative!

I don't like the idea for two reasons.

1. I like and want to watch both, so what am I to do? I suppose I can watch dond on M4.
2. It could be potential overkill for the show. Two games each day will mean we have less time to get to know the players properly. I know they will be on for the same time, but I feel their time on the show will seem to go too quickly.

Although I've been to a couple of live matches of my favourite team (the now sadly defunct former Wimbledon FC - don't laugh, someone has to like them!!) football is not really a game I care about, and I don't see me watching any of the games this year, even those that England are involved in.

In fact, I'm probably the only Englishman who likes to read about England losing. What really bugs me is that England somehow think they are the best and world-beaters who automatically deserve to win - no-one on the team really plays with any pride for their country, unlike those who turn out for the other 'home' nations like Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland who really want to be there and aren't just in it for the money and bonuses. I refuse to support England on principle and won't be going in for all this flag-waving malarky on the roof of my car or sitting on some cut-out-and-keep prayer mat printed in 'The Sun' praying for Wayne Rooney's broken metatarsal or whatever, who frankly I happen to think is nothing more than an over-paid thug anyway, who, if he wasn't playing football would probably be out robbing Post Offices - but then that's another argument entirely! (Nothing like a bit of controversy on these boards, is there??? :) )

When Greece won the last tornament in Euro 2004 I was quite pleased for them as they really wanted it. I'd love to see some small muppet team like Trinidad and Tobago turn England over. That'd be cool and really funny!

Deal or No Deal for me all the way! No contest.

I would also have to say yes for 2 shows of Deal Or No Deal. Football is a sport which I do like but I never watch.

The only matches I would watch is the England matches and the semis and finals.

If this was crossing with motor racing, that would be a different matter

Bad idea - I'm afraid I'll be watching the World Cup so DoND may have to take a back seat.

I might find myself taping the extra DonD and then staying up even later than I should do and becoming even more tired than I already get and becoming more irritable and grumpy than I already am and causing more arguments than I already do and offending and annoying more people than I normally do and...

Oh, so in answer your question. It's a bad idea.

double noel double happy and don't mean to offend all you footy fans but I hate Beckham and cannot bear to watch because of him. Don't all scream at me we are all allowed an opinion if you like him that's cool if we all liked the same people life would be dull.

I couldn't care less about the World Cup, but I think two DONDs a day is overkill...one show is bound to overshadow the other and it'll just detract from the whole thing. I'm sure I'll still be watching them both though..

Thats a very good point - for instance if Gaz and Pat's shows had been on the same day, we'd only have remembered Gaz's because he won £100k, even though Pat was the more memorable contestant. But maybe we do that anyway...? We'd just have less time to reflect on each game which I always like to do.

I think it's a good idea, but at the same time, crucial DOND games might be missed if England are playing! I wouldn't miss DOND if England was on!!

Even though I'm not a football fan and will therefore be in hiding for the next few weeks :!: , I think it would be a bad idea to put DOND on twice a day. They will never win the ratings war against the World Cup as even casual fans of the sport will be drawn in as a matter of national pride - I know if they did that during the Ashes then I would have to miss DOND no matter how much I love the show :(

They're obviously assuming, and not unreasonably, that DoND draws an older female audience and as such is sensible programming to put against the World Cup - which will mostly be watched by younger males, England games excluded (and it's worth noting that no England matches will clash with the one week of double daily duty I've heard suggested).

They've probably somehow forgotten or disregarded the large student following...

Me, I'll choose DoND. I think.

Nothing like a nice bit of stereotyping now, is there?

I for one will be watching the world cup, and I don't think I'll be the only girl doing so either! I mean, just look at this thread!

It looks like I am the only person that will bother to watch the 2 episodes

DOND seems to have a following that is as difficult to stereotype as just about any show on TV - it's gone far beyond the core daytime TV audience.

No surprise that Channel 4 are using their two most powerful ratings winners in DOND and BB to compete with the World Cup. Myself, I'll watch the football and stick the DOND on the Sky+ (after all it only takes half an hour to watch a show if you skip the breaks and LTL crap etc.)

I'm a fan of both but it's a ludicrous idea. Talk about overkill. And the fact that contestants will come and go even quicker than they do (and they're already coming through very quickly) will make it more difficult to get to know each new player. A desperate plan by C4 really, as they know that ITV and BBC will totally monopolise the audience.
