Hi Guys

Just want to say I am appalled at the way max has been slated on other forums for her game, we all get nervous and I was under the impression that nerves and excitement just bowled her over when she was picked and was saddened to hear that she read the comments made about her on the dark side and that it really upset her. Thankfully those of us that call this forum home have more intelligence about peoples feelings and would never stoop so low. Who knows how we would react on the day we get to sit at the round table at the theatre of dreams.

Respectfully
Suezan

I fully agree. The way some of the forums have talked about her has been absolutely appalling. Thankfully, we've been far more kind and I can understand why she behaved as she did since was so nervous.

Possibly because you're guaranteed to get a warm welcome on here, and not on the other forums.

I'm appalled too. Max is one of my all-time favourite contestants!

Max was fine on Deal Or No Deal. Contestants who get nervous during the game can actually make the game more interesting because they show a human side that people can relate to if they were in the same position. She should have no regrets, and know she is loved.

Some of the stuff was clearly pre-planned (the "phone" etc.) but I think the bit that turned many people against her was the way she interrupted Noel and Stevie's conversation in her hurry to pick the next box.

Maybe the editing of the show could have been kinder to her. But this is Endemol we're talking about after all!

I second the displeasure towards some people having a go at Max...a lovely contestant who had a rather unfortunate game.

Sure, she did interrupt Stevie and Noel at some point but at that time, it was hanging on a knife edge, the game could have easily swung either way and Max I'm sure was pretty anxious to find out how it was going.

Some people on those 'darkside' forums have no real brain at all sometimes, and will just criticise for the fun of it.

It may be their opinion but sometimes it is best to keep it shut.

To be honest, she was one of my least favourite contestants. The whole "show" she tried to put on was just annoying. And I can see what is meant when people say she seemed rude and overpowering.

I just didn't like her at all.

I agree, she wasn't my favourite contestant but she didn't deserve the abuse she got, its not like she committed a crime or anything!!
Also I'm very angry because i have just read some idiot calling Tom some not very pleasant names on another site and said his mates were thick telling him to deal!! All because he took the £33k and didnt go on. And he said all the current contestants are stupid. What a moron (sorry that doesnt make me much better does it?!!) So i had to come on here to read some nice things and let off some steam!! :x :-D

The personal slating of contestants is unecessary, but clearly many of the darkside forum posters get their kicks out of being unpleasant. They do it to each other so there's not much hope for outsiders.

My advice to players would be to keep off the other sites. The posts are dwindling anyway and many of the old regulars have moved on. They largely deserve each other so leave them to their deluded small minded ramblings.

Reading posts on the Dark Side and commenting about them just gives them more fuel to keep being nasty. I think anyone who appears on National TV for days at a time, and sometimes, for not much money, deserves respect whether you like them or not.

I've never been there because I don't want to read people slating Deal or No Deal, although I suppose it is good to hear different people's opinions from time to time

Some of the opinions on the 'dark side' are extremely ill informed. We (I would like to think) are kinder and more well informed in our opinions and respect the fact they went on national TV in front of 3-4 million people. They worry about how they appear on TV and this makes them act in different ways. We musn't insult them because they are bravwe to do it in the first place and for many, it is a life changing moment.

i kinda sensed she might have this reaction, because she didn't come off GREAT, but i would never say some of the things that are said on the dark side, because assuming you know so much about someone in 45 mins is so naive...anyway, max, if you're reading this, then just ignore the other forums...people who post on the internet are lifeless losers. :)

except for us dond.co.ukers, obviously *blows kisses* :-D

Definitely, obviously ill informed opinions are not worth bothering with, the only criticisms that are worth listening to are constructive ones.

The thing is about appearing on TV people will either love you or hate you, and I'm sure all contestants appearing on DOND would have been informed about the negative criticism they may receive! I'm sure Max is a strong enough person to deal with the negativity, as are other players which have been unfairly criticised.

I think the thing that makes this forum a nicer place is that the admins/moderators are genuine forum members who play an active part in the forum themselves (Kestral, ND) and even contestants (bushy aka Aaron!) For that reason they get respect and the small amount of troublemakers are quickly removed.

Bothers Bar, while not "solely" a DOND forum, is the original place that did daily show commentaries, and for similar reasons to the above is also a "friendly" place.

The "darkside" forums on the other hand have anonymous admins who seem to randomly delete stuff/ban people, and I think that encourages bad feeling and a less pleasant atmosphere. Although of course the vast majority of DS and C4 members are no trouble at all.

I'd noticed that too. I don't like that at all; I think all Admins and Mods should be known and approachable and should take an active intrest in what's going on. The Endemol forums are the same, with a faceless, nameless 'Admin'. I don't think it encourages friendliness at all.

:D
