can anyone help me settle an argument that i've been having with a woman i work with.
she thinks that a man who played his game within the last few months took a year off work to be on the show and when his game ended noel said to him that he hoped the money made up for him losing a years pay, now i remember it differently, i think he was a policeman and he said he had used up the last of his holiday to appear on the show so he wouldn't be able to have a holiday for a year(or something like that) and i dont recall noel saying anything about him not being paid for a year.
i know there are commentaries for all the games but i cant remember his name or exactly when he played, so can anyone let me know who they think it is so that i can check the commentary. i refuse to believe that she is right, we argued about it at the time and she started on about it again earlier this morning. i told her that i could find out from the dond forum and she said you are all very sad, so please, please help me prove her wrong.
thanks in advance and 'happy hot cross bun day to you all'

I remember a few instances of people saying they've quit their job completely to appear on the show, but never of somebody who'd taken a whole year off. I don't see any reason why anybody would have to do that, since they'll only be required to be at the studios for about two weeks in total anyway.

She may be right about that part...

The only person that springs to mind is Ian; he was a policeman, played recently and took some time off work, but as MisterAl said I doubt it'd have been a year...

...oh and yes we are sad! :-D

thanks for your help, i think it might have been ian's game, i've just read the commentary and it didn't mention anything about taking time off work or not being paid for a year.
no you are not sad, she is, she had a massive crush on david'H2005' and kept talking about how much she was looking forward to his game but she wasn't in the country when his game was shown and when she came back i told her how entertaining his game was and she said she couldn't remember who he was. i think she is going insane, she is a tiny mediterranean woman who speaks so quickly that sometimes it is hard to work out if she is speaking english perhaps she hears as badly as she speaks.

You are right Davey, Ian used all the leave he had when he was on the show but not a year, but it was a years leave so maybe that was what the lady thought :D

thats very naughty of you garylq but she is definitely going insane, we had another argument at work this morning because i asked her if she watched yesterday's show and she said she hadn't because it wasn't on and i said it was because i watched it and she said it definitely wasn't on and she remembered noel saying on thursdays show that the next one was on easter sunday. her husband works with us and he admitted to me that he had told her it wasn't on so that he could watch the golf on sky but he is not sure why she said she heard an announcement about the sunday show, i told him its because she is ******* ******
i wonder if she will notice that daimon is missing :laughing
