Have you ever come across a player who when playing, you've thought "I hope he/she goes way with peanuts!". Usually, I want everyone on to get the highest amount possible, or at the worst think "Oh, I wasn't that bothered about him/her, I can cope with them winning a low blue".

But I've never really WANTED to see anyone do badly. The closest feeling I've had to it is a sort of "Ha, ha, serves you right" when they've taken an unbelievable gamble on a great offer that had a low percentage chance of paying off, such as Player 14 or John G.

Or when Andy Kelly talked himself up at the start and hit £250k on his first box. :-D
(But I was happy with the way his game turned out in the end!)

Mmm...I'm ashamed to admit that there have been a few occasions when I've been rooting for the banker to win. But that just adds another dimension to the game - it's a lot more fun than when there's a really boring player, and I couldn't really care less whether they win or lose.

I don't want people who take big gambles to lose, but I don't necessarily feel particularly sorry for them when they do. Take Sarah yesterday - I wasn't glad that she lost, but I didn't have much sympathy for her because she took a big risk and she must have known that there was a significant chance of it not paying off. I've no problem with people playing it like that, I just don't feel particularly badly for them if it goes wrong - I have a lot more sympathy for players who have bad luck from the start and never even get the chance to take a gamble.

People who take a huge gamble are, in most circumstances, going to either go away with everything, or go away with peanuts. If they're willing to gamble, such as Sarah yesterday, then there is always a chance that the gamble won't work, and it didn't in Sarah's case.

I have to say that I have more sympathy with people who have bad luck throughout their game, as it's not under their direct control, and they haven't had the opportunity to deal at a good amount. Whereas people who gamble have had that opportunity, but they have gambled it.

On the other hand, as I'm sure Wakey (the resident no-dealer on these forums) would agree, it's the gamblers and the no-dealers who often provide the most exciting games, especially at the end of the game.

Having said that, I never really want anyone to do badly. There are certain players who perhaps I haven't noticed much, and therefore I don't have much opinion on, but I don't necessarily ever want anyone to do badly.

Having seen the gamble John G took - no-dealing £25k on a board of £75k, £50k, £1k, £250, £10, he only really had a 10% chance of a tangible increase (keeping both the £75k and £50k), even a £75k/£1k or blue split would have only been about the same, £50k/blue would have decreased to around £15k, and there was a 30% chance of complete disaster, which he hit. The odds were stacked against him the second he said "No Deal", which makes his decision look ludicrous.

Not sure on the exact probabilities at the 8-box stage, but Sarah had a higher chance of keeping the £250k and £100k to the 5-box stage, and even keeping the £250k without the £100k should have increased the offer (though the bnaker can go all over the place with a £250k and rubbish last five, as we all know!) :-D

Nope...it was a Saturday night in March! There was a Jim who played in February, but he was a lot more subdued...

What was wrong with Fadil, Aaron? I can see why you'd find Mike annoying, but I thought Fadil was quite inoffensive, really.

Jim R did play in March, but I remember it snowing around the time his game was on, so it seemed like earlier!

Actually, I liked all of them mentioned - Jim, Mike and Fadil - I found them all very amusing!

Right, but it was still probably a cold dark evening in March, then! But there was another funny character who played in February... what was his name?

Was Mike the one who was going on about being a DJ and Noel yelled at him, "CHOOSE A BOX!" and he replied, "OK, box number 6..." - there's a clip on YouTube...

I thought Fadil was alright, personally. I don't know why, but I thought he looked a bit like Rowan Atkinson?! Did anyone else think that or is it just me? Probably just me! LOL!!! :-D

Yup. I also remember him getting a bit shirty with Noel for taking the piss out of his job...

Yes, that's him! He was fantastic, he played the day after 1p Trevor, but becuase I couldn't stop laughing at him, it didn't seem anywhere near as painful. The clip of his end game, though, I've watched on Youtube about 20 times and it still gets me in stitches. "Audience think blue. THINK IT!!!"

There have been a few who have taken a ludicrous decision that I have hoped to be punished, and I think there were a couple of characters who - at least the way I called it at the time - were annoying me to the point where I didn't want them to win big. (Oddly, every time I do that, the train wreck duly arrives.)

That said, not one contestant on DoND has been as annoying as Julian from PokerFace.

I'm going to be mean (but honest!) and name them.

Janet that won £5 (I think Janet was her name) Anyway, she had the worst fashion sense out of all the DOND contestants.

And, dare I say it, Pat M. I really can't see what all the fuss is about. :?

I'm going to be hated on this forum now :(
