Noel was on the BBC Breakfast news this morning promoting his new TV show on Sky1 tomorrow night, and admitted to the presenters that as a protest against the BBC's method of getting people to pay for their TV license he cancelled his payments to them about 3 months ago, and hasn't been contacted by them to date  :-D

He has made this protest as he is not happy with the way the BBC now threaten people with prosecution instead of promoting the good reasons as to why the TV license is great value. He goes onto to say that it's not just the BBC that use this method now and it's the way society is changing, and he wants to make a stand against it.

The presenters tried to get him to admit if he still had or watched a TV, but he carefully evaded that question  They then said to him to expect a fleet of TV vans to descend on his home

I'll upload the video in a moment :D

I know Noel obviously means well, but I'm not sure breaking the law is the right way to go about it.

I'm quite shocked that he's done this as surely he wants to improve society... encouraging people to break the law won't do that... :?

I see Noel's on about his scratchcards again! I also see "dondcast" is new... is that because your "dondcouk" account got deleted? ;) :P

I'm tempted to make an extra effort to get a job at Devon County Council just so I can refuse planning permission if he ever wants to extend Edmonds Towers. Reason for REFUSAL: You're Noel Edmonds. - I think that would be a "random act of kindndess". (Perhaps not kindness then.)

But why did Noel have to bring up the license fee in his conversation? He was talking about about an "aggressive culture" to which he then moved on to the BBC :ponder: but to then admit to not paying the license fee is surely not the best way to go about. If I were to admit on live TV that I didn't pay the license fee (which my household does pay by the way! ) then i'm sure they'd be straight round after the money.

I'm not saying Noel did this as publicity for his show, but he must of realised that admitting something like that on live TV was bound to cause a bit of a stir, even more so that he was actually on BBC News saying. Which of course has made a number of newspaper headlines for tommorow/today, the day of his new show.

The Daily Star - http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/50 ... cence-fee/ - To which they refer to Noel as "nutty", "wacky" and "lost the plot".

Haha Noel will love this - "And he said it was his belief in Cosmic Ordering, which involves drawing symbols on the hands, that gave him the confidence to try to change people’s attitudes." - he said during a Richard & Judy interview over 2 years ago that the symbols had nothing to do with cosmic ordering, and we later found out the whole symbols thing was a joke to get people talking anyway...

Thinking about this. There is more to it than boycotting it. As he may not watch any TV in his home. The law state if you watch TV in your house then you must have either a licence for a black & white TV or a licence for a colour TV. However, you are allowed to watch TV if you're in another place that you don't own.

Obvivously you don't need a TV licence if you use the internet.

Surely though he'd have made it clear that he doesn't watch TV in his own home? He worked around the question when they asked if he watched TV any more.

Whilst there's a shock factor surrounding it all (and therefore publicity) I still think it's rather dodgy announcing it, even if he doesn't watch TV in his own house any more.

This makes no sense... the TV Licensing people saying he has got a TV licence and Noel's spokesman saying he hasn't - and then he goes on to talk about Noel being willing to talk to anyone about how "threatening this is". But Noel hasn't been threatened as according to those in the know, he does have a TV licence. :?

What's the old boy up to now?! I think he's actually just lost the plot... unless he just felt like having a random rant at the BBC (in which case... yes, he's definitely lost it).

And to think there was me looking forward to Noel's almighty protest...

Noel on BBC: "I actually cancelled my licence fee a few months ago,"
TV License Authority: "TV Licensing has checked its records and can confirm we have a valid current licence on record for his address."
Noel's Spokesman: "They have completely not issued Noel Edmonds with a TV licence. He has not got one."

So does Noel have a license or what? :? Most odd all this. I wonder when Noel returns back to this country (supposedly he's out of the country somewhere. I wonder if his melons went abroad with him too) if he will release a statement himself. Was it all just a publicity stunt? If so and it proves Noel does have a license then it's not going to look good for him.

This bit is odd too...

Noel's Spokesman: "They have completely not issued Noel Edmonds with a TV licence. He has not got one."

He sounds like Vicky Pollard - "They have soooo completely not issued Noel Edmonds with a TV licence. He has like so not got one, can't believe you said he had one, arsehole".
