Something was done like this for the forum's favourite contestant in the autumn of last year to cover shows 1 - 600. I think it's time to do something similar again now we're close to show 800... but this time I thought it'd make sense to do forum's favourite show rather than favourite contestant.

I think there is a difference between shows and contestants - e.g. Pat M was my favourite ever contestant but her show was actually fairly unmemorable for me. Whereas there have been contestants who wouldn't make it into my top 10 list but certainly produced a show which was one to remember for various reasons.

As far as I'm concerned a show covers the game, the decisions made, what Noel was like, what banter there was and of course what the contestant themselves were like.

This requires as many people as possible (i.e. the one's who haven't left) to post their top 10 SHOWS from shows 1 - 400 in this thread, and post their top 10 shows from shows 401 - 800 in the other thread which will cover shows 401 - 800.

I will then tally them up and produce a leaderboard thing at the end of August to allow people enough time to submit their things.

Reminder: Shows 1 - 400 covers Lynn (31/10/05) to Rose (05/03/07) and shows 401 - 800 covers David (06/03/07) to whoever plays on show 800 on 12th July. The full list is available in the Today's Show Archive here.

Well I've written out a few shortlists then I keep missing "Oh I can't miss THAT one out". I thought this part would be easier as I didn't watch regularly until April 2006, so I can discount games like 1p Nick, 120k Jennifer, mad Sarah etc as I only saw them as repeats.

I'll probably ending up writing two or three a month then trying to narrow it down from there!

Oooh. I'm going to regret this... this order, anyway.

1. Mad Sarah (OPW from good decision-making, Noel was fine, amazing comedy. An easy number 1)
2. Lance (amazing game with great comedy right down to the final deal which Noel joked about rather than criticising - 'save a little bit for the other guy' or whatever he said. Beaten by Sarah's sensational surrealism though)
3. Andy K (great comedy though not as much as the top two, OPW from good decision-making, and the Noel I thought we'd never see again)
4. Dave W (OPW from good decision-making, Noel at his funniest, and a top player.)
5. Brenda (amazing game, good decision-making, amusing contestant but Noel ruined it a tiny bit and that's why it's below Andy and Dave. Also lacked comedy, but tension and excitement of the game would have been hurt if there was!)
6. Gaz (life-changing money and a huge OPW from Banker errors and good decision-making, this is in there for the game alone)
7. Marcus (great comedy and I don't remember WakeyNoel coming out, but overcautious Deal and inflated proveout offer pushes it down)
8. Julie (a game that will always be close to my heart - as it was Geordie's advice, much of it from my stats, that caused Julie to play on at £7,200. Even ignoring that; life-changing money and an OPW from good decision-making, drama, plus comedy early in the game joking about Julie's self-admitted lack of intelligence.)
9. Melanie (Noel drags this down... but seeing his comeuppance cancels it out. Life-changing money and an OPW from a player who completely knew her mind and was entertaining to boot)
10. Dennis (essentially a passing mention for the schadenfreude. Could have easily been Madie or John G instead, but the symbolism of Dennis being in the Wakey Winter and the historic outcome wins out)

The winner of this "heat" will go up against the winner of the other heat - in an attempt to find which show is the forum's favourite show from shows 1 to 800.

I'm predicting now it'll be a Clive vs Lance finish, with Clive winning - possibly because I suspect several of the forum members who will vote only started watching recently and may never have seen Lance's show.

Of course this could all still change. If there are some great shows today and tomorrow, we may have a new contender for winner of the 2nd heat. However, I doubt that'll happen unless Charles plays, turns out to be funnier than Clive and bags a £100k box win or something.
