If a contestant says that they're going all the way, does it fool the banker into thinking that they will no deal all the way until their final box? Morris said it, but he really meant it, and did go all the way, but others have said it, and not meant it in that sense. The player's box has about a 41% chance of having anything between £5,000 and £250,000. How many have the courage of their convictions to go all the way? If enough people don't take any deal except maybe swapping their box at the end, we should soon see someone win <IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/7life/250.gif">

Thanks to the statics page

Gotta love that non-moving page.

Sorry Banker!

Instead of writing statistics, you wrote statics. I think I'm funny!

You're probably best leaving me in a world of my own Banker!

The best jokes are the ones you don't have to explain!... or are the best jokes the ones you do have to explain?

In a large majority of cases, going all the way did not pay off. But you're more likely to be forced to go all the way if the game is going badly - virtually all the early cases seem to be like that.

If you have big amounts in play at 8, 5 or 2 boxes left then you're much more likely to get a "walking" offer, whereas if the highest you have remaining is £5,000 for example you're just going to no-deal and hope for the best. But recently more players seem prepared to play on with the high amounts still there, which suggests the £250,000 will be won fairly soon.

Irene wasn't the first player to be offered a swap - according to the Bother's Bar commentaries, Oli, the first player to go to the end, was, so I would imagine most of the others were too. Ones who weren't (at least, it wasn't shown on TV):

James (the first one, who won £10)
Vanessa
Barbara
Matt (apparently said he didn't want one before the phone rang, but that was edited out)
Janet
Hilary
Gaz (wasn't shown on TV, but he posted that he was actually offered it)

And Germaine didn't go all the way to the end - he dealt for £75,000 and had £250,000 in his box (so perhaps he should have done!).

Of course, you could now edit your post and make me look like a prat. Probably what I'd do in your situation!

EDIT: Like that!

Irene was the first player to accept the swap.

And Germaine didn't go to the end! If he had, he'd be a quarter-millionaire or something!

There can't be many that have taken the swap - and presumably those that have, have been dealing with fairly insignificant amounts. Morris and Kirsty would never have swapped because of the danger of 'giving away' £250,000, which would presumably be worse than not having it in their box in the first place...
