Which one shall I pick, accidential victory or pure bravery. I'll say that Marias was accidential victory because she was going to deal but she believed her birthday box contained 100k but she was actually going to no swap but it was still a brilliant game I must say.

Now Betty, words describe I thought she was cautious. But she was brave all the way through. She no dealt the £10 vs £100,000 finsih which I thought was absolutely brave. She got the outcome she deserved. It was tense because seeing the previous games I thought she was going to win £10. It was a magical game and a wonderful lady and for that I wish both Italian Maria and Betty good luck in the future.

BTW I'm going to pick Betty for this one, Marias was great but that was a time when the season wasn't trainwreck after trainwreck. Betty really moulded the perfect game for 2008 (not dick richard of course).

:)

Betty. I can barely remember Maria and it's not due to the amount of time since her episode either - I'd forgotten what she looked like about 2 weeks after her episode. And also, Betty's was much more tense.

Betty's gamble was far greater; £10 on the line, as with Maria it was a guaranteed £15,000.

Plus with the show in such terrible arrears (gameplay-wise), Betty will always be remembered for the one to break the pattern - just a shame it didn't last for long after :(

Definitely Maria's. For a few reasons:

1) Her game came out of the blue. No-one was expecting it but it produced one of the best ever. However, with Betty, the rumour of a £100k win sort of ruined it for me.

2) A thing i noticed from £7,700 Steve (April 08)'s game when i saw it on More4 a week or so ago. Betty said she would have dealt then as well. Yet that seems to be forgotten when we hear of her courage.

And i think "accidental victory" is a bit harsh..

I agree - didn't even watch betty's only skimmed on 4od, Maria's was an amazing turnaround and was only spoilt a tad 'during' the game by kp/editing.

Id have to say Marias because it came out of nowhere and unfortunatly Bettys was spoiled for me by a Sheffield newspaper the day of her show.

Well my favourite box created both, but Betty's was better for me as if 11 had the other amount, she'd have gone home with just £10, plus it stands out among a whole host of bad games around that time.

Maria for me, her board looked a bit beaten with about 6 blues vs 2 reds.
And it is beyond me how she managed to keep those two reds to make an all red finish...

I'll find some pictures when my site stops playing up

Tough call. Both had pros and cons.

Betty

All or nothing finish
Outgoing character
Made some pretty brave decisions
The £100k rumour that was going about at the time spoiled it.

Maria

There were no rumours, so it kind of came as a surprise
The game was going badly, then turned around
She swapped to win it
She had £15,000 as back up, so was never going to go away with a small amount
Quiet and fairly unmemorable character.

Tough call, but I'm going to go for Betty, simply because she risked going away with a tiny amount.

Well, I'm a bit torn between the two:

Maria had one of the finest turnarounds ever, taking out 7 blues and then swapped

Betty's was another tense game, cause there was a 50/50 chance that she would win the last blue

Maria. She gets my vote as I wasn't expecting to get nearly as much as she got, and also the game was going so badly it was almost guaranteed she was going away with a low amount, but she turned it around. :D

Betty - becuase she had a 50:50 chance of disaster, Maria was guaranteed at least an average win at 2-box!

Maria, because that turnaround was just incredible when you think about it, and she was the last person you would ever expect to look like a gambler, yet she turned down over £40k! Oh also the ending to Maria's game is my favorite of all time. Betty's was fantastic too, though.

Maria.

1. She appreciated the money more.
2. She wasn't sarcastic about it.
3. She took a bigger gamble.
4. It was one of the biggest wins never spoiled.
