Some people criticise the gamblers but the truth is they provide us with the most exciting games, and one of them will surely win the £250,000 eventually. It doesn't always come off though...

Gary tonight pushed his luck too far and left with just £1, but who deserves the title of most reckless gambler in the show's history, the player who could and perhaps should have accepted a seemingly decent offer but instead got drawn in by the prospect of the big prize?

Has to be John G - he had a ridiculously generous offer, which only had a 10% chance of significantly improving. I felt bad for him going home with a tenner, but I still can't understand his logic.

I went for Player 14 because he was even more stupid than John G. How he No Dealed at £28,000 with just £100,000 above that offer was beyond me.

Definitely not £10 James. He was the victim of a cruel twist of bad luck.

It's between Player 14 and John G for me. I'll have to get back to you...

Yes - the contestant on the 14th episode of DOND back in November took a massive gamble which went badly wrong, although he still went away with about £4,000 or so.

After the show for reasons best known to himself he contacted all the DOND stats sites and asked for his name and details to be removed. That's why he's often referred to as "Player 14".

I still think John G and Fin were the most reckless, and the fact they were brought back as 'consultants' for Lucy's game didn't bode too well for her!! :? :-D

I would have to say Player 14 - he rejected an incredibly good offer (£28,000), with only the £100,000 left in play for big reds.

Here's the games details (hidden in case this is not really meant to be posted):
He was a bit of a gambler and was determined to get the £100k. £5, £50, £1,000, £15,000 and £100,000 was the board. He turned down the £28,000, and opened £1,000 and £50. Then he opened the £100,000, and was left with £5 and the £15,000. He dealt at £4,800, and had the £5 in his box.

There you have it :D

John G shares the lead with Morris - perhaps surprising as although Morris lost the most money anyone has by no-dealing, he was taking a 50-50 shot at DOND history with an amount he was reasonably happy with as a fall-back. John on the other hand no-dealt an offer of almost the mean, with the top two prizes out of the game and significant disaster potential.

I agree that his offer was unlikely to have improved, but given that he had two large amounts of money, he actually had a 40% chance of walking away with more than his 25K offer if he decided to go to the final box regardless. In terms of being able to walk away with an improved next offer, the key would have been leaving the largest number, 75K in place, but if he had been left with 75K and a blue, would the banker have improved on the 25K offer or forced him into opening the final box by lowering it? Based upon other games, probably the latter imo, so he would have needed the 10% chance dream scenario of leaving the 50K and 75K in place. Sadly it was not to be.
