Just for a bit of fun. How much money would you have to be offered, after knocking out the Banker's power 5, before you would consider dealing the first offer.

1p - £19,999.99 - Wouldn't deal.
£20,000 - £49,999.99 - If it was over £35,000 I might be tempted.
£50,000 - £74,999.99 - Would seriously think about dealing.
£75,000 - £99,999.99 - Would have to deal.
£100,000 - £149,999.99 - Deal
£150,000 - £199,999.99 - Deal
£150,000 - £199,999.99 - Deal

Now obviously the Banker will rarely go above £20,000, but if he were to offer me anything above £50,000 then I would have to deal.

The mean would be about £34,000, I think; £26,000 would probably be enough, £20,000 (which is what Matt got after his all-blue opening round) would be at least vaguely tempting but I suspect I'd play on anticipating a crazy second offer that I might then take. In the case of Matt's game, that would have been the correct decision, well apart from the £50k in the box that was then swapped away, and because I'd always swap...!

I don't know - the only opening offer I ever took seriously was howards and perhaps tess's.

Mid 20s for a talking point possibly.

Howard's was the most generous opening offer - £18,000 despite losing £75,000 in the first round.

The first offer if you take out the Banker's Power Five, the average of the board would be £33,274.18, so anything above £20,000 would deserve consideration, first offer or not!

I'd definitely be gone at £25k, possibly £20k.

Depends on the board.

I mean, if I had the worst possible opening round I'd be happy to deal £3,000, and I'd probably look for about £25,000 to deal after an all-blue start.

I'd probably not deal an opening offer unless it was above £30,000. Which would never happen... however, if the banker went mad and offered £25,000 or more even after having a bad opening round, I'd have to deal, but wouldn't want to.

If the opening round was all-blue, probably something like 25k. Otherwise, it would depend on what I took out, but I'd take anything over 15k if I hit the quarter-million! :)

After an all blue opening round, it would have to be a really high offer. Over £50k.

Around £40000 I reckon. Having said that, £40000 would have me out of there after any other round as well...

Where is the 'I wouldn't deal the first offer anyway' option?

Plus, realistically even the best opening round on a 500k board would produce maybe a 40k opening offer. But come on, there's 500k there so I would carry on anyway.

Have voted the £50k+ option because it would have to be there to get me out of the chair that early.

£40,000 would get me out of the chair for the 1st offer!

He was offered 30k at the second offer. His first offer was 15k.

It'd have be north of 30k for me to deal at the first offer.

Whilst it is unlikely, it would still be difficult to turn down anything above £30,000. Very reasonable amount.
