Looks like DOND are getting a bit short of pilgrims at the moment, they are phoning people who have been to recordings in the past and inviting them to come back again. Also this letter now comes with the consent form sent out to audience members;

http://g.qualter.googlepages.com/Jealous_Friends.doc

If anyone reading this forum hasnt been to a recording yet I strongly recommend you give em a ring and go along if you can. Its a fantastic day out and totally free, you will see the show like you have never seen it before, including a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that isnt shown. You will most likely even see yourself on DOND when your show(s) get aired. Go for it!

Totally seconded! Especially the bit about seeing edited bits - one of the games we saw last week, if everything could make it to the final airing, it would rival Clive for best show ever - and that is saying something!!!

Ed on the production team is practically excited every time our bunch go down - though largely so he gets to drive my friend's scooter off the studio floor! Bless him!

Everyone there is really friendly, and the Bocabar has good food too if you arrive a bit early. Definitely worth going!

I have to agree it is well worth going, you get a much better perspective of how a show is put together, and why people make the decisions they do. It's great when Noel comes into the studio during the warm up man's act and talks to the audience (although his first words last time were "miserable b*stard" to a gentleman the warm up man had been ribbing in the front row!)

It's amazing how much good stuff they cut out of most shows, although mostly it is too rude or won't fit the 45-minute slot. You'll find that the show is just one component of the day's experience, the build-up and the warm up man's act is often just as enjoyable.

If you're thinking of going, DO IT!

Bristol is just too far for me to go, as much as I'd like to go.

Even though I am from the USA, I may be considering heading to Bristol to be in the audience for a DoND recording, since I am hoping to go to the UK for the first time ever at some point in the middle of this year, that is, if DoND is still recording at that point.

My most possible dates of visit would either be in late May or mid-September.

Mid-September will be during the summer break, so May would be the better option.

I would really love to go and see some recordings of the show. Just to be in the dream factory would be amazing, but to actaully see some live games in play would be great.

It's just gettting to Bristol, and whilst it's 'only' just over a 3 hour journey on the train, it's a matter of cost and indeed the thought of all that travelling back and forth, especially on our train services that never seem to run on time.

I may look into it some more and might go a bit later in the year when the nice weather comes.

Update...

Scratch late May...I may now consider early October now.

Mike - It takes about 3 hours on the train also from where I live in West Sussex (wonder if we're coming from the same direction?) I can understand your reluctance to go because it is a long way, but it is absolutely worth it. I usually go about once a year or if there's a set change, although after going this time, I so want to go again! (if they offered me a free train fare, I'd be there like a shot, of course!)

Even though it is a long way, it is relatively simple to get to (at least from where I am), just 2 trains to get - just make sure you've got plenty to do on the journey!

Yep. Still, once you get to around 15, 14 if you're tall, it seems you can fake your identity and go in anyway. And, with that in mind, I could be in the audience next year.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

How many miles is it from North Wales to Bristol it's a long way even by bus you have to get a plane

My nearest airport that offers flights to Bristol is Manchester, which is about 3 hours away by car, and I don't drive. By train, given the number of changes I'd have to make, it'd be about 6 hours both there and back.

I'd like to go and see it being filmed one day. Although as I live quite far away, it'd make more sense for me to get to Bristol in the morning, see the 2 afternoon / evening games, stay overnight in the local Travelodge, see the next morning's game, and then travel home later that day.
