In most games, "Thank you mr banker" is said prior to a No Deal, but if they don't say anything, it's normally a Deal. Do you agree that it spoils the game?

Personally, I think it does, and it ruins the tension.

I don't really notice it that much. I just see it as being thankful for the offer.

It's often said before a deal... and before a no deal... so I don't find it an issue.

Two exemptions off the top of my head are with Leila and Steff - they said it and then dealt. I'm sure there are many more!

Most of the times it happens are in early-game obligatory No Deals anyway!

I'm not convinced it gives anything away - and more to the point it's a long, long, long way from being the worst production decision of the show even if it does.

I don't really mind, to be honest. Are they told to say "thank you, Banker" though? If I remember correctly, in the early days, the reply was just a simple "deal/no deal." Now the contestants usually say a monologue before saying deal/no deal.

But they have to say it, or the banker thinks they are just dismissing the offer.

I think it's just something that one player did and loads of others copied. A bit like bowing to the wings at the start of the walk of wealth.

I remember there was a poll on here started by rico7 (I think) about the use of "thank you Mr. Banker" and most people thought this little thank you was unnecessary.

yes it's a bit irritaing but it's only said in the earlier stages anyway e.g. third offer etc.

I wish people would say 'no deal' on it's own instead of sucking up to the banker anyway.

what you have to remember is everyone has a different standard of living £1000 to one person is like £100,000 to another.
So the contenstant has to have respect of the banker offers.
:notworthy:
And it is also a mind game with the banker...the personality/character you give over is the he has to juggle with???!?!?!???!
:ponder:

Have to say you have to be of a certain sadness to really care about this stuff. And No. It's about the only place in England where people are grateful for anything, at all

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
