I have just noticed that DOND is now broadcast on Channel 4 HD (Sky 140) at the same time as it is shown on normal Channel 4.

Is this a proper HD broadcast? If so its great news for us with Sky HD. I have wont be able to find out until I watch Mondays show, so does anybody on here know? Also how long has it been on there, I only noticed today.

The channel only lauched about a week or two a go. It's pretty new to the EPG.

Was going to say it was pretty new, not heard of it before.

I guess the question is, are there HD cameras in the Dream Factory or not?

I was wondering this too.

I heard that C4 launched their HD channel a couple of weeks ago but so far only a handful of shows and films make use of it. I think the American show Ugly Betty is one and Hollyoaks is or about to go HD. As for DOND in HD I don't know. If it's not currently in HD my only guess is that it will be in the future as more shows go to the HD format.

I've just noticed in general, that when you view Deal in widescreen, it looks a far lot more smoother and more live-like as it is.

So maybe they just do something similar to make it to the HD channel, rather than use extra cameras. :? Only a wild guess, I haven't the foggiest.

Seems nobody knows, I am going away for Christmas tomorrow morning, so I will set my Sky+ to record the HD DOND broadcasts and report back here when I am home and have had time to watch one.

I suspect the show is originally recorded in SD but have the HD treatment when it goes through the editing process. As older episodes of The Simpsons were never remasted for HD but are being shown on Sky One's HD channel.

Yep, me too, thats what I am expecting to see.

Hopefully the fact that DOND is broadcast on C4HD, and that it is a flagship C4 show, will mean that proper HD cameras will be in the Dream Factory sooner or later.

Dont rush out and buy HD especially for DOND, HD is definately worth having anyway, but thats another matter.

DOND on C4 HD doesn't appear to be a proper HD recording, yet. The picture is great, very sharp, but doesnt seem that much better than on the normal digital C4, and not as brilliant as it is for broadcasts that are proper HD, eg live football matches, films, etc.

I am reverting to setting my Sky+ to record all DOND shows on normal C4 again, as the HD recordings are using up too much memory - my other half is about 30 shows behind!

My feedback is that bearing in mind I'm only on Freeview but every now and then the show runs at a slightly lower speed...anything to do with HD editing by any chance???

Its not cheap, but Sky HD and a decent HD telly is the bees knees. Even better with a Home Theatre System for the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

I've got Virgin Media and whilst I don't have their new HD box yet and I don't think i'll bother yet either considering VM hardly have any HD content compared to Sky.

But it would be nice to see DOND in HD as then when people cried the tears would look lifelike :)
