Is it me, or throughout recent games, have most players personalized them with the death of a family relative or the hardship that they've recently been through?? I mean it really is turning into sob-story city, and we have the Xmas stars next week, which by the way, I think is a ridiculous idea.

I mean yeah I fully appreciate what these people have gone through, but it just puts me in a horrible mood having to listen to them crying and such at the start and throughout every game. What is going on??

I have to agree fully - as I said in another thread, I find it rather depressing to watch as we all know bad stuff happens - but why do we need to be reminded about it on DOND? :? So I'm tired of it, to be honest. Anyway, yesterday I created this image to put a little humour onto the whole thing. :P Not looking good. I just hope those people don't drown with all that crying! :(

It is really annoying. I am sure that viewers do not want to be depressed at the start of EVERY game. I was prepared for it on the Christmas stars week. I think all of the people have/ have had cancer. I would like to see more of a selection of people, not just those that fort with cancer. But it really is tedious at the start of every show.

These sob stories are all very well, but they should have been saved for some time after Christmas or some time before.

It's almost as if the Christmas Star contestants are going to be the sob-story players who aren't exciting enough to play at any other time... oh wait. We've not had much wing action from anyone bar Orry anyway.

I don't know what to think but maybe the sobbing might be mainly intro?

It sounds like 'some emotionally contrived drama' and is a bit odd trying to link mainly cancer suffering with a big money game show.

I'll watch the christmas eve before making proper judgement though.

I guess they're just trying to mess with the format in case it gets stale but the shows last year IMO had a good christmasey feel without them complicating things.

It all seemed to start off with Ron's game in October, when the whole studio was in tears due to his daughter passing away. That was a big break from the norm and was very emotional, but it has seemed that every show recently has had some tears at the start. Sandra on Tuesday was the exception I think, and while I do feel for their sadness, it's not very happy viewing at this time of year!

I'd like someone to make fun of it in one episode:
"This is a picture of my sister, who...*starts sobbing*"
Noel: "It's ok, it's fine"
"...lives in Wales!!"

I know it's not their fault but it does make the show quite depressing viewing. Now and again is fine but every episode isn't!
