All the talk on the forums these days seems to centre around DoND needing to inject a little freshness into proceedings.

What we need is a show to get the forums animated again. Now I'm not saying I agree with this idea of mine, but were it to hypothetically happen, I want to know two things:

1. Would it work?
2. Would you accept the offer?

I know DoND purists (ie forum members... :-D ) will probably hate this idea, but humour me (in the spirit of Christmas... ;) )

Here's the scenario:

It's your game, your show, and its going horribly wrong. You haven't pulled off an all blue round all game, and we've somehow got to 5-box (in play). The board has 4 blues left on it, including the 1p and 10p. The 5th box in play is the coveted £250,000.

Here's the catch. The Banker is not offering a monetary sum. He's giving you what he calls his 'Get Out of Jail Free' offer: he will write off the game and allow you the chance to play again in a subsequent show. But you will get nothing for this one.

Gasps emanate from the wings and the pilgrims. You can play again and the game might go much better, but the nagging feeling at the back of your mind is - 'what if I have the Quarter Million here and now?' If you deal, the game will be played out as normal, as if it were 'post-deal', so you will find out the outcome either way.

Do you deal? Would it work, and if so, on what sort of player?

That is GOOD! I've absolutely no idea what I'd do. Most likely play again, then look a total fool if I either had the 250kin the box or avoided it to 2-box and got offered 50k or more!!

I think that is BRILLIANT, and you should work as the main Twist Writer at Endemol.

I'd seriously be stuck for what to do. I suppose it depends on how you want to play the game - if you want to win £250,000, then No Deal, the next game might have it go in round 1 (or 2, 3, 4, 5...) but there it is still there. If you want to win something decent then take the 'offer' and hope you really did have a blue in there all along!

I think contestants like Morris, who were totally committed to believing that they really did have £250k, would No Deal it, as would anyone who was totally, utterly, 100% convinced it was in their box. Everyone else...who knows?

Oh now that's a superb twist.

I'd value that five-box board at about £15k, and the mean win is £17k and the median £13k, so that's exactly the time to use it too.

That defies... almost all my usual analytical tricks. I think I'd take it.

My only question is : Why on earth would the Banker do that? Its not as if any of this lot would go for the £250k in a million years. At that stage he knows all he has to do is offer a paltry few thousands and the contestants will grasp it pathetically like an alcoholic with a bottle of whisky.

So to give them another chance is just not going to happen.

I absolutely hate 4 blues/power 5 boards so I would take the offer. However I would be slightly more tempted to decline it with the 250k still in play because I couldn't bare the thought of blowing a 250k box

It's an interesting twist and it would be interesting to see the reactions of everyone.

Because if the Banker isn't actually offering any money then the sensible option would be to take the 'play again' option.

However i'm wondering how the player and the Banker would both play the second game. Would the player be more cautious second time around? And would we see an early deal from the player too scared the risk their luck second time around.

An interesting twist, and not sure how it would work in reality - I suppose the player would go back on the wings for a few shows and there wouldn't be a newbie in the next show? I'd probably deal the offer... at the very least you'd get to spend more time at the Dream Factory, plus there's a chance that you can have a luckier game next time round!

Good twist but in that scenario I wouldn't take it.
