I'm not too sure if there's a topic on this here but I decided to create this anyway. This is not about opposing viewpoints or anything else BTW.

IMO, I understand that winning the £250,000 on DOND would be a wonderful and exciting experience for me in my life. But the only downside is that it would be completely boring because 'what would I end up doing with the rest of my winnings?' Now that would make me feel ad Basically sometimes being popular by winning the top prize on DOND can make you look 'cool' on the outside, but then you realise other people may end up dislike you because being too greedy makes you feel bad inside. (I don't mean to be offensive but it's true.) That's why popularity is a terrible thing.

Well, that's my opinion. Now it's time to have your say. Just don't flame anyone elses views, ok?

I would be terrified enough of the media attention that I would end up being a recluse, taking advantage of having enough money to buy a house of my own outright only to end up having that house as practically a prison.

If I'm honest, I wouldn't feel all too good. For starters, I'd actually be pretty poor, because you can't actually buy a house with £250,000. In house terms, that's a paltry amount. £275k at the very least down here i reckon, for a proper big (3 bedroom +) house.
And then I'd have the whole neighbourhood round for a slice of the cash.

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

...... they really need to teach the value of money at school...

If it made you feel unhappy I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands dan :P

I mean come on, £250,000 is more than 10 years work in most cases, I'd be ecstatic, for £250,000 I'd happily take on all the side effects.

I wouldn't worry about media attention as they'll never find me up here in the middle of nowhere. But it wouldn't make me any happier that I already am. I've got most of what I want through hard work and apart from a new bike (Yamaha R1) the money would probably just sit in the bank.

Id feel smug as hell for proving No dealing and self belief is the way to go.

I'd throw 50K in the bank and use the 200K to put towards a Thomas Tompion clock :-D .

Well, I'd be pleased. But you have to be careful not to fall into the trap that money = happiness, because it doesn't. I'd also not be too bothered if the media tried to interview me, I'd probably just tell them to *beep* off. That would give them something to write about. Still, as long as I had £250k in the bank earning lots of interest then I wouldn't care. :P

When I had a phone interview for DOND last November, the bloke asked me "What would you do with the money if you won the £250k?" and I said, without being able to think of anything else, "Invest it in a high-interest account", to which the Endemol West researcher said "To make it up to a million?", to which I replied "Yes"... they never did phone me back.

But I still stand by that... if I won £250k, I wouldn't go mad and spend it all, I'd invest it in a high-interest account and probably not spend much of it. I doubt it'd make me happier as I don't think money can buy happiness...

Agreed, I'd be super lucky for making it on the show, never mind winning a quarter of a million pounds!

Great minds think alike! I'd stick it straight in the bank and then withdraw the funds when I need them. Although I'd probably pay quite a few bills with that! There is also the fact that there is a very small chance of winning the top prize so it would obviously be a great achievement. I'm not sure it's quite enough to retire with though!! As someone said, money doesn't provide happiness in today's world. In fact for many people it provides the complete opposite. As for how I'd feel - I'd feel brilliant.

I know, £106,000 for a bag of chips, come on!

Seriously, I'd feel great. It gets me through uni and a lot to invest too.
