ive noticed from todays game and the others recently the offers are much lower then from the start of the series.. do they want contestants to go all the way more

like today linda had 4 reds 3 over 20k and the 250k in last 5 boxes and got offered 24k

players before like Mally, Anna, Jessica and so on all were offered over 40k with poorer boards but still 250k in last 5 boxes.

is it to stop people dealing at the vital last 5 boxes all the time.

Shame for Linda but its makes the players play more i suppose

what u guys think :?

i suppose they think people will deal too much with high offers

It's not that I don't agree; it's just that I can't be arsed to read your post until the morning. I'm too tired :-D

I would imagine the offers have changed as the Banker has gained experience with the whole system.

I think they just do it to make a better TV show. Seeing someone gamble and either lose the lot or win big is generally more entertaining than seeing someone play it safe and take the deal, so the offers are lower in order to encourage more of the former.

I think thats the reason too - they don't want to give the contestants any easy decisions. It does make for a more exciting show as you don't know what they're going to say (unless its 4.55 and theres still 5 boxes in which case you know its a DEAL! Annoying when that happens...)

Right, I'm alert and awake now :-D

I think the offers aren't made particurlary lower, they just swing wildly in any direction. The offers really are quite unpredictable.

However, towards the end of the game (the last 2 rounds), I think the banker would:

1) Lower the offers to encourage the players to go on to the end
or
2) Raise the offers in hope that the gamblers will accept it.

If you fancy trawling through a load of statistics, take a look at the analysis I did at Bother's Bar after Kirsty's game. It compares offers at each round between Series 1 (games 1 to 66) and the first part of Series 2 (games 67 to 132).

If you don't fancy the mathematical details, then here's a summary.

Offer 1: Series 2 is more generous than Series 1
Offer 2: No significant difference in generosity
Offer 3: No significant difference in generosity
Offer 4: No significant difference in generosity
Offer 5: Series 2 is less generous than Series 1
Offer 6: Series 2 is less generous than Series 1

wow MisterAl, you really have some interesting information...i definitely agree with you rockjack, there have been very significant differences. i do remember jessica's £41,000 deal...she had the 250k, 35k and i think 3 blues..

with trevor bruce, he got £9,900 with the 250k still in play...

Again MrAl comes up trumps with the facts we needed !!

I guessed that most of this was the case - but I am surprised at the first offer being more generous !! But I'm not the most observant of people

jessica,s 41k to linda,s 24k is a big difference!

Don't worry -- I wasn't expecting that to turn up either, although when you look at the actual amounts offered after Round 1 it does look quite obvious...

If the plan is to find the first <IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/7life/250.gif"> winner swiftly, then the offers will start to decrease. I think they have gone down a certain amount, but they vary with each contestant.

Also, in some foreign versions, the banker apparently doesn't always offer money at the final stage, and simply offers a swap, forcing the contestant to go with what's in one of the two boxes left. I think they'll probably start doing that relatively soon if they really want someone to get the £250,000.

That would be very interesting, and a good twist to the usual endings, but I'm not sure I would like it. To me, it would be too much of an obvious ploy to get a 1/4 millionaire. I know the game should challenge contestants, but personally think this should be through offers and deals.

Surely that would result in some contestants dealing one go earlier so that they don't get caught out by the banker. You'd have to be a real gambler to go to the last 2 boxes. Not sure it would be a good move by the programme makers.

No, I wouldn't like it at all. But I doubt that'll stop them doing it if someone doesn't win the £250,000 soon.

what annoys me more is that the hypothetical offers are a lot higher than the banker would have offered
