In the US version they made the largest 6 bigger for a week. (see wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deal_or_No_Deal_(USA)#Case_values) Maybe the UK version could do that...

I don't think it's fair on the other contestants if one gets to play with greater sums of money than everyone else :/

i think we as british aren't as greedy as americans...if you took out £300,000 it wouldn't matter because there'd still be about 9 numbers up there you'd be happy with...

I think they will increase the prize fund eventually. Think about it guys if you were called up to say congrats you can come on DOND be warned though that we are messing around with the prize funds so other contestants might have bigger amounts then you (although you will still have the £250,000 game atleast!)

Do you still want to go on.....

I for one would still say yes and be really happy about it!

And as for watching it I think it would increase its popularity if people are given different sums! (even if it is just for a short amount of time!)

I think they should double the prize fund for Saturday evenings due to the peak audience success that the show is achieving with the fact that it is scheduled later. They could always double the red box amounts but keep the blue box amounts the same as in the weekdays however which would intensify the drama and heighten the joy or pain at the end!

I was thinking the same, in fact I first believed that they would automatically increase Saturday shows worth. But I guess problems would arise with how much money they're paying out, because with the current system, the 250k is absolutely essential to earning a large amount. One could say that every game is a "one box" game in that sense.. So increasing the amounts of all the boxes would lessen the tragedy factor when knocking out the highest one (still having a lot to play with), making it good for the players, but bad for the producers.. they would lose out eventually.

Maybe they should just do it on the special occasion days. Change the 100k box to a 150k sum or something. They would get away with that.

To be honest with you I doubt Edemeol (sp) would want to give that much away. I agree with you Alex. I think the power 5 is enough, it is fun to watch the contestant having to keep the high numbers in the game for as long as possible. Increasing the money would take away that excitement.

I wouldn't mind if they drew the contestants as a lottery as opposed to being selected to play. Thay way everyone had the same chance of being picked to play with bigger amounts.

The problem they would have with it always being a lottery to define who plays is that they then couldn't guarantee to people that they would only need to take a maximum of three weeks off work !!

If they did one or two a month they could work round it. Maybe every saturdays. It could help fill the extra 15 mins. This is just conjecture tho.
