Well... the battle of the sexes has one more week to go, and presumably we'll be seeing our first male player on Saturday - the first male to play since Pete on Friday 7th.

But, whatever the outcome of the battle (although it looks likely the males will win at the moment), what will the banker be like afterwards? Will he be going on about it for weeks or even months to come? Giving higher offers to the winning sex? Giving lower or even more joke offers to the losing sex? I'd imagine this will be most noticable in the games following the battle.

What will the wings be like after? As someone else said in another thread, the male / female balance will still be uneven for a while to come, and we'll still be getting people doing short runs because of the battle.

Also, does anyone have any idea what the prize might be? I'd imagine the banker will be giving away small amounts of money to each member of the winning sex - something like £500 each as is the case when the 1p is found in the opening round in special shows... but I suppose it could be something totally different!

I couldn't really care avout the battle of the sexes TBH. I'm only intersted in decent luck, games, a sensible banker, a sensible Noel and sensible players. The men have probably won unless there's amazing games this week.

To be honest, same here - the battle of the sexes thing was weird and unnecessary from the start - and as I said in another thread, if they wanted to calculate which was the "luckier" sex (which is rubbish anyway) then they should've based the research on data dating back to the first show, not just base it on data collected in a 4-week period... not to mention the fact that some good players (Stephen and Pete to name a couple) did low show counts and some others did unnecessarily high ones...

Anyway, I'm not sure we will be getting a sensible banker for a while after this as no doubt he'll be acting stupidly with the members of the sex which wins... and giving insulting offers to the members of the sex which loses...

The difference over all the shows will probably not be statistically significant - Laura and to a lesser extent Jennifer might give the girls an edge, but the guys have had most of the other £50,000+ wins that I can think of (Daniel, Bunney, Gaz, Lance, Jon, Mally, Germaine, Graeme - the only other females I can think of are Hilary, Brenda, Lynne, Saj and Georgina).

Over the long run, the mean wins will generally be a function of risk-aversion or lack thereof, with lower risk-aversion associated with a higher mean win (and a far, far higher variance with many more blue wins!). And this assumes all is equal - something which ain't gonna happen now.

Just wait until the last female player - what price she gets an offer that would cause the females to lose the battle by 1p per player if the board makes an offer of that magnitude feasible, or even if it doesn't?

If you base it on the top 20 winners (georgina upwards) the women win because of Laura. Subtract Laura and the 8 women have an average of 80K and the 11 men 82K.

With Laura the average there is about 98.9K. So there is a Laura effect.

Well I've been so absorbed by the battle of the sexes I'm going to write in and suggest a battle of left-handers v right handers followed by glasses v contact lenses, big ears v small ears, knobbly knees v nice knees ...

The possibilities are endless .........

Yes it makes you wonder where they'll go next... I think the most likely is an age related one - young vs old - now that actually might have some basis to it due to the theory that young people may deal earlier due to needing money for education, etc. and older people will be more likely to gamble...

On the other hand, the young generally don't have as many responsibilities as the old, so may be more willing to gamble and the older people less likely to gamble.

I think comparing anything in a game of luck is a bit stupid really though. But at the end of the day, I suppose it's just for so-called entertainment.

That one would be a bit difficult. What would be the cut off point for being classed as a young player?

Now that would be interesting. I don't actually know what wing I prefer at the moment. The west wing has Jean, Lee and Viv but the east has Planet Joan, Gillian and Stuart.
