this may seem random but have any of you noticed that one box tends to stick. They shange the number and the amount so it wouldn't be the same number, but Carol, Joan and Alicia have had that problem during the last 3 shows, Joan (2) had it too as well as Claire and some other person (I cant remember) but (I might be wrong) why is only the 1 box stickinh? I think it might be the same box but I could be wrong!!

I will watch tomorrow and see if another player's box lifts up at the front and for 4 days running... I would say that suggests that my thought was pretty accurate. Carol, Joan (2) and Alicia have only had this problem once, so it is nothing to do with their box technique... maybe the inderpendant ajudicator was having a laugh

I will watch for this further...

What I mean, is there is a red box that tends to stick together, so when various people try to open it, the front lifts up.

I first noticed it yesterday with Joan - didn't Alicia have it today?

I just thought it's normally sticky boxes with the yellow ones for Easter, green ones for Father's Day and St. Patrick's Day, and pink ones for Valentine's Day.

But not ever red boxes, until this week!

when they pull the seal off theres always a strip of thin paper at the bottom of the seal bit (with 2 slits either side of it i think) that got snapped sometimes it can tangle with the metal bracket thingy on the lid of the box.

it could just be the fact the lid just wedges in with the rim of the box and sticks if someone with a weak opening tries to open it

its probably cos the boxes are brand new and need wearing down a bit. that would explain why it does it for easter boxes st valentine boxes because they are new and when they use new boxes usually for a new season!

I'm only guessing here, but wouldn't the numbers on the front of the boxes stay the same each day? Surely it's only the amount inside that changes each game.

I think you're correct, Duffer. And as for the boxes sticking, it's probably because they are new - they probably had a new set for the start of filming of season 3 - and bearing in mind they film 3 shows a day, the new boxes are still very new in terms of filming.

I agree aswell duffer, I hadn't thought of that actually....but it does make sense though, why would they even have to bother replacing the numbers on each

But you're not seriously saying that 22 boxes could last over 530 shows of having seals ripped off, being put on contestants' heads:-D etc, a total of nearly TWO WHOLE years? On the contrary though, suppose they are plastic

but yes, i never thought of that duffer, and you might well be right

I thought they were made of thick cardboard... and they definitely do replace them occasionally. The contestants are told to take care of them though as apparently they are expensive and specially made by Selfridge's and can easily get damaged if the contestants lean on them too much.

I did notice one box today sticking... box 3, I think.

And I also think that the boxes keep the same numbers on the outside, it's just the numbers / amounts inside that are changed for each show.

Well the amounts are stuck onto a piece of cardboard that is placed inside each box, which is a hell of a lot easier than putting the box numbers on front of each box every show.

P.S. Box 3 stuck yesterday too.

I thought they changed the numbers on the boxes... because on the first game, some of the numbers were wonky and stuff... but yeah.

I think in the early days of the show, the heat in the studio caused the glue on the boxes to melt.

But It seems odd that only 1 box a show sticks... and its not to do with the amount of power because Alicia opened the £1,000 and it still flipped up... you would have thought more than 1 would have done it... anyway the idea will get clearer if another box sticks on today's show

Remember Lynn's game? The box in E1 had the number hanging off the box!

It could just be the way the IA seals certain boxes that makes them stick occasionally... if she happened to accidentally put too much force on one or two when she was sealing them, then it would make them stick.

They must own hundreds of boxes anyway, maybe it's just the individual pressure/strength the players apply to the boxes.
