Hi,
just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself. I'm Alex and am a teacher from Norwich. Am loving Dal or No Deal - in my opinion the best show on TV at the moment. So much so, that the other day I nearly ran out of a staff meeting to make it home for the start of the programme. Have been looking on here for a while and it seems really friendly, so hello and hope everyone is ok!

Alex :-)

It might even help. What better way is there to make maths interesting for them than DoND?

I definitely will - I've already played a game as the banker (and felt really mean)!

And who'd want to live anywhere else??!!

MisterAl,

I teach primary so do some maths but not as a specialism! The sort of Maths I teach my Y1s is something like 10+7=?

I did get to test out my maths when I was a contestant on Countdown though,

Alex :-)

You didn't teach Gary did you?!

Oh, and welcome - great to see a teacher on the site - DoND could be a good educational tool - other than the gambling bit!

Ah right. I teach GCSE and A-level maths and I'm currently trying to think of ways to bring DoND into the classroom. Although one or two of my students haven't progressed much beyond the 10 + 7 = ? stage themselves yet...

I saw a DOND powerpoint presentation on ebay which was described as "useful to use in the classroom"

The seller is incorrectly assuming that the classrooms I get to teach in have such sophisticated equipment as 'a computer'...
