How to upload an avatar

[b]1. Go to http://imageshack.us/

2. Click on Browse and chose a picture from your computer.

3. Once you are happy with the picture you have chosen, click open

4. Tick the box where it says ‘resize image?’ (1)
In the drop down menu click ‘avatar’ (2)

5. Click ‘host it!’

6. Once your picture has been uploaded, where it says ‘Direct link to image’ highlight and copy the link inside the box.

7. Go to your profile at the top of the page.

8. Scroll down until you get to the Avatar control panel bit, where it says ‘Link to off-site Avatar’ copy and paste the link into the box. Click submit and vola!

They are gif files. You create a gif file using a gif file creator, they are freely available on the internet - you basically insert images and then make an animation of them, then the program saves it as a gif file. Then you type the address of the gif image file in the avatar image box on your profile. Anyway, duff, your avatar is a moving image, of the emoticon picking up the phone - that'll be a gif file.
