An OPW (Outright Player Win) is defined as when the player wins the largest amount out of the six offers and the box that was in front of them when they dealt (or the one opened at the end if they did not deal).

1) Helen (2) £4,800 (4th offer)
=2) Jenna £5,000 (box amount)
=2) Emma B £5,000 (box amount)
4) Alison (1) £5,100 (5th offer)
5) Paul (1) £6,500 (5th offer)
=6) Dilys £7,000 (5th offer)
=6) Ottis £7,000 (5th offer)
8) Jenine £8,000 (4th offer)
9) Audrey (1) £8,500 (6th offer)
=10) Louise (1) £9,000 (5th offer)
=10) Joey £9,000 (5th offer)
=10) Jeannie £9,000 (4th offer)

With the way early offers have gone recently, it's perhaps not surprising that 8 of them are from the first 200 shows, four of which played in 2005!

Big big downside to the OPW history is that the Banker is a lot more fairer with the opening offers nowadays. Nowadays, you can be guaranteed an opening offer of more than £12,000 as long as you don't hit the Power 5. Back then at the start of the game's history, the offer still wouldn't have exceeded £9,000!

Yes the small OPW has become a rare event these days, instead we get games that peak at the first or second offer which is very unsatisfactory as nobody ever deals at that stage anyway!

The first two offers are pretty meaningless really, Swappy Matt's second offer of £35,000 after taking out 8 blues in a row is the only one I think many people would actually consider. In most cases he may as well make joke or swap offers!

Yup, and even with that scenario, if you were to have Dealt, you'd have had the entire audience against you. With four bigger, you'd have been expected to have gone on. And look how little he went home with compared to the £35,000 offer!

Well if he hadn't swapped his box at the end he'd have won more... still that offer was worth considering, though I certainly couldn't deal with a board like that!

Exactly - that dreaded second offer puts many players off balance recently. Is why they have recently been asking for advice so early! Although they'd wanna carry on, they have to ask others incase they're just being cocky! (Which they're not!)

This thread needs updating after today's game! Actually it's missing Asma, Louise, and maybe a few others.
