For anyone who likes the stats and odds related to DOND, just thought I'd start a dedicated thread to provide interesting information (well interesting to some for others it would bore the pants off of you!) All contributions welcome! I'll get the ball rolling: :smt043

Up to yesterday's show, Episode 279, the banker has had to fork out:

£4,452262.38

Average Contestant's Winnings: £15,957.30

( Average Box Amount of 22 = £25,712.12 )

(I am planning to update these stats regularly so check back)

About six months ago (c. April 2006) the average contestant's winnings was just over £17,000 so this figure has fallen in recent months. This could be due to the £250,000 not having been on the table for so long and other factors.

Since season 2 began, so 45 shows, box 14 has had one of the Power 5 18 times, and it has had a red 32 times, a blue 13 times and not once had the 1p! Keep an eye on my Box 14 Watch thread here... http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... sc&start=0

Is there anything special about the number 14? I'm beginning to think there is! :)

I've had high numbers in box 14 when i've played online DOND games and the board game... and others on the forum have had high box 14 values as well when they do the online and / or board game.

I just tested the theory of box 14 by playing an online game of Deal Or No Deal, took the swap at the end so I could open Box 14 and won £35,000!! :D

Here are the stats for outright player wins since DOND started. These are also known as "perfect games." There have been 282 shows up to today's date 22/10/06 , and 74 of those have been outright player wins. (revised edit) After discussion and review, the agreed cryteria is based upon the contestant going home with more money (or no less) than the highest banker offer of their game as well as no less than what is in their box which means that 26% of games only have been outright player wins. The first three DOND shows ever were outright player wins. Here is the month by month breakdown:

2005

October 31st Outright player win
November 9
December 6

2006

January 9
February 7
March 7
April 5
May 6
June 10
July 4
August 1
September 6
October 3

It is worth noting that June saw more shows because of Double Deal week.

I'm really not surprised that October has only had 2 OPWs so far! Although, I suppose we have still got 9 shows to go of October...

I make it 72. (Probably because of what I've mentioned below.)

Quote:
In other words, the contestant has gone home with more money (or no less) than the highest banker offer of their game, which means that 28.1% of games have been outright player wins.

Are you saying that games where the player sells their box for an amount less than it's worth could still be an outright player win (e.g. Sarah-Jane on 30 September sold her £50,000 box for £14,010)? That doesn't make any sense to me... (sorry)

I see the cryteria that was followed to make 73, and while we can debate certain things, I think that the formula used for this is an acceptable one that we can all agree on, so consequently I have revised the earlier posting! Thanks for everyone's contributions. Needless to say, the outright player wins can be updated regularly, hopefully the more frequently the better as contestants have successful games! :D

I'll go along with that. My spreadsheet formula wasn't picking up Gary (27 February) because of the box swap.

Definitely 73, then.

One thing we are all agreed on is that this month has been a very lean month for outright player wins. Let's hope this trend is reversed very quickly! :D
