I would be tempted, cos I have a figure in mind which is not far off some of those first offers, and I wouldn't risk missing out on something near that amount.

Having seen so many games go ti ts up, I would consider going at a first round offer if it was near the amount I would like to walk away with.

Well, it comes down to whether the player values the experience or the money more. Personally, I may be tempted to deal at the second offer, but definitely not the first. Although I can see why it could be very tempting (I'm thinking of Aaron's all-blue first round and the highest ever opening offer of £15k here, of course!)
