Well, I think everyone must have forgotten who I am. I used to be the stats guy on the Today's Show forum, and departed earlier this year because of work commitments. The stats I've developed, are too good to keep to myself, though. :)

First, a couple of oldies which I used to use. The 2-box median, first of all, is the median of the averages possible at the 2-box stage.

For example, with 22 boxes, there are 231 2-box combinations. The median of the averages in the combinations is £7,875.

This matches the 2-box combination of £750 and £15,000 remaining, with half the rest above and half below.

The risk of collapse, is how likely you're going to keep one of the boxes with at least £10,000 in play by the 2-box stage.

With 22 boxes, and 8 with £10,000 and above, the RoC is 39%. On a board of 3 blues, and 2 high reds, the RoC is 30%, as there are 3 combinations in 10 where you're left with only blues at the 2-box stage.

Moving onto the new stats in the next post. :D

The first, is the hi-lo amounts, that simplify the game considerably.

Let's say there are 5 boxes; 1p, £250, £15,000, £20,000 and £35,000. The offer is £10,000. You have an intuition of how much the board is worth, and you can easily work out the average.

Only thing is, you have the 2-box stage to get through first. So, how much would you deal at on this board?

To work out the low value, we add 1p and £250, and half of £15,000 together, to make £7,750, and then divide by half the number of boxes, 2.5, to make £3,100.

For the high value, again half of £15,000, then £20,000 and £35,000, divided by 2.5, makes £25,000.

So you can now represent the board as so:

Low: £3,100
High: £25,000
Offer: £10,000

The average of the hi-lo is the same as the 5 boxes, and you can then decide if you think the reward of continuing is greater than the risk.

The banker can benefit from this, too. A simple strategy, knowing that players are usually risk-averse, is to think of a dealable offer with the hi-lo amounts, and knock a certain percentage off that offer before the 2-box stage, and players would be tempted to deal.

The other new stats, are the percentage likelihood that the average at 2-box will be higher than the current average, again by checking the 2-box combinations. The other, is the average above the current offer at 2-box.

If you want to include these in your stats, let me know, and I can help you add them.

Moved to the stats section as it's more stats based!

Hi again, h2005.

Hello crazyeddie... I certainly haven't forgotten you as I saw you online the other day and wondered why you hadn't posted for a while... I was looking at some old today's show threads and wondered where your stats posts had gone - nice to see you and them back.

Sure. I'm still here, and I'd love to do the stats again. Nowadays, my work has to come first, and the Today's Show forum was where I usually posted, so that's primarily why I haven't posted since then.

Thinking of doing some after-show stats, where the player's decisions are looked at in detail. Could be helpful to future contestants.

Good to see you again h2005, with familiar faces on the forum, and new ones joining regularly. :)
