Finally some good news to come out of this disasterous campaign

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket ... 195763.stm

All we need now is for Glenn Mcgrath to follow Warnie out of the door and we will have a much better chance in 2009 when the Aussies come over here

The Aussies are pretty good without those guys, but I do think we will have a better team in 2009! I watched the game last night until about 12.30 am when we had Australia in trouble at 84 for 5. Wake up and discover that they then had a parternship of 279 to ensure a likely result to put them 4-0 up barring something very special. If this was a boxing contest, it would have been stopped by now. :(

Australia thrash England again this time by ten wickets and achieve the dreaded 5-0 whitewash! :(

Time for the inquest to begin! :? The selectors got it wrong, the preparation was poor, it was a mistake to make Andrew Flintoff captain as great a player as he is, and there is a lot more that could be and will be said no doubt.

The one positive is that it puts into context what a major achievement it was regaining the Ashes in 2005 against such a great Australian team.

It's also a timely reminder of how much England missed the likes of Michael Vaughan, Marcus Trescothick, and Simon Jones.

Now onto the World Cup in the Caribbean.........
