New format this year with a round robin at the start of the tournament.

I think ronnie o'sulliavn will take all the beating after good performances in the premier league event

Any other thoughts?

Well obviously it won't be the same without Paul Hunter.

I agree that Ronnie's got a great chance, but my money's on Higgins defending his title. I think Hendry's got a decent shot as well.

There are a number of good players who could win, Hendry, O' Sullivan, Stevens, Murphy, Higgins, Williams, but I think the whole event will be overshadowed by the memory of Paul Hunter.

Oooh I forgot about the round robin. Should be cool, now the Motorsport season is all but over, the Snooker season starts up. :-D

I'm not sure who I want to win. I've only ever really support Joe Swail and Michael Holt.

It may be a strange atmosphere and I'm not sure any of the established players will be at their best or have their mind fully on the game after what's happened recently. Along with the fact that it's the first major event of the season which often produces surprise results as the top players are yet to find their form. I'm going for a rank outsider to take it. Or perhaps Ding, don't think he classes as an outsider any more!

I do like this format, short and snappy :P

Althought the arena does seem very, very quite and empty :?

I hope Robertson wins - he's the only good looking player left! He has nice hair, and an Ausralian accent. I love him!

It's an entertaining format, although a number of the players don't like it! It would be good to see someone like Mark King wins who hasn't won a lot of tournaments.

I think of all the players left only McManus has ever won a tournament which was the masters in 1994.

I was right about an outsider winning it then! The change in format, early season timing and the fact that the Paul Hunter news was always going to overshadow the event seems to have had the effect I expected.

Yes I think Mcmanus beat Hendry in the deciding frame in that tournament back in 1994.
