:notworthy:

In some news which will make the BMW weaker then what it is:

F1's governing body has banned the so-nicknamed 'twin towers' because they impede the vision of BMW Sauber race drivers.

Just as rival teams began to investigate copying the bodywork innovation, which passed scrutineering and debuted at Magny Cours, the FIA says it falls foul of Article 2.3 of the Technical Regulations, which relates to features that could compromise safety.

Concerns in the paddock had also been raised about the questionable aesthetic effect of the vertical fins, which were designed to better distribute rearward-bound air.

A recent advisory note to all teams, written by the FIA's Charlie Whiting, warns that front bodywork should no longer be fitted higher than the top of the cockpit, it was reportedly widely on Tuesday.

"We respect the FIA's decision to ban such elements," a BMW Sauber statement read, adding that the FIA had been consulted even before the wings were tested.

I think it was wrong to call the wings "twin towers" also

Yes BMW getting some parts banned too

Also an innovative damper system pioneered by Renault and adopted by several other teams, including Ferrari, has been banned by the FIA,

With so little to separate the competitiveness of Renault and Ferrari in their battle for the world championship, this week's surprise outlawing of 'mass' dampers could have an impact in the outcome of the title fight.

Mass dampers are simple mechanical devices that comprise of a weight, believed to be around 9kg, mounted in a spring. They improve a car's performance by dampening out tyre bouncing frequencies throughout corners and therefore keeping grip levels more consistent.

Renault were believed to be the first to use the device, although they have never officially confirmed that they were running with it. Red Bull Racing, Williams, Ferrari and most recently McLaren have subsequently developed their own systems.

The FIA are on Ban Control :-D

Austria 2002 was awful. Also Austria 2001, Irvine had lots of 'brake problems' when he was team mate.

Herr Chinmacher should have the balls to have a decent team mate!!

David are you on the btcc.net forum(?), cos there's a Davidf1 on there too!

Fern will win (I hope), but I think Cheatmacher will. Uh, Massa will crash and Sato will drive into Monteiro again.
