Well for me anyway as Czech Republic take on the USA. Could be a good game, and Italy kick off tomorrow in a very tough group. The Czechs need to win this group otherwise they'll probably play Brazil in the second round!

It'll be alot closer than 2-0. The Czechs are ranked 2nd, but Baros may not start and Nedved injured himself in warm up a few days ago.
But Cech won't let in that many goals.

For me:

Czech Republic 1 : 1 USA

Possibly a Czech win but I'll sit on the fence!

I'll go for a Czech win. Sorry JR! Probably be close though. 1-0 I reckon.

Japan 1-0 up, and it was a foul goal! Two of the Japanese forwards just pushed Schwartzer out the way!

The Czechs are still a quality side. If Baros and Nedved are injured they will be missed but they still have the likes of Koller, Rosicky, Cech, Galasek etc.. It's a tough group but the Czech Republic are more than capable of getting out of it.

The Czechs are one of the best sides in the whole competition, IMO. Not only great individual players, but a wonderful team ethic. They should have too much for the Americans.

There's no doubting the talent there it's just a question of whether or not they can take the pressure of being one of the favourites.

I hope Baros does play, cos he can score in big tournements, and Koller can't.

Not many people see them as favourites though. The common guy in the street wouldn't particularly say they're in with a chance of the title and Italy are the team everyone's choosing to get out of the group as winners. I, personally, think that the Czechs are as good as, if not better than, England and certainly better than the likes of the Netherlands and Germany. The fact they aren't a seeded team could help them fly under the radar for a bit which should play into their hands.

You're right, they've never really been seen as tournament favourites and especially since they struggled in their qualifying group and got through by winning their play-off game against Norway (I think it was Norway?). Their form at Euro 2004 was impressive, if not a little inconsistent, but with the players they have they're capable of getting to the QF's at least, maybe beyond?

I think they can top the group. Italy are good but they are beatable if they come up against a side who don't just sit back and let them have the ball. The Czech Republic will take the game to them and with the players they have, especially if the likes of Baros and Nedved are fit, they can get a decent result.

I think whoever finishes second in that group will probably be facing Brazil in the second round? Australia will probably be waiting for the winners of the group. I think that's the case, not entirely sure but topping the group in this particular group will be crucial.

Can i just say TIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY!!!

Cahill won the game for the Aussies today....unfortunately, that may mean a couple of bigger teams will start sniffing around. Still, it'll add a couple of extra million onto his price tag at least.

United are supposed to be keeping tabs on him, aren't they?

As for Italy, they are THIRD in the group if you go by FIFA rankings [behind Czech and USA]
