I think Australia may surprise us all. They're quite good, and apart from Brazil, their group is nice so they could go through to the second stage.

Sweden are not a surprsie team, we already know they're good. Same goes for Mexico.

Ivory Coast to get out of Group of Death ahead of Holland. Just you watch it happen...

Wouldnt expect them to get to semi's or final though.

You wouldn't, but anything can happen.

I wouldn't expect Spain in the semi's or final if i'm totally honest.

I think Mexico are a tough team to face for any side.

Hard to pick one, but I'd say Ghana could spring a surprise, Mexico should be considered genuine quarter-final contenders at least especially in that group, and Paraguay (sorry guys) have to be considered a potential surprise package too.

But when you consider the quality of teams that haven't made it, you realise they aren't bad.

Hell, they made the second round in 1994. England didn't even get on the plane that year.

(Admittedly the Asian qualifiers can be slightly easier to get through, but the fact the Saudis got through at the expense of the thriving Chinese side tells its own story.)

Look at Togo and Angola, getting through in front of Egypt, Cameroon and Senegal.

Technically Ivory Coast got through ahead of Egypt and Cameroon, and they are a very good team in a tough group. However, the fact Angola and Togo are there, is, in footballing terms, a travesty. I'd much rather see Cameroon, Egypt and Nigeria, or perhaps Senegal...
