Can Portsmouth survive?
All clubs in administration should be docked points, so will they, end of story - so no 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
If points are unaffected, then yes absolutely! 33%  33%  [ 1 ]
Points deduction or not, they're still doomed! 66%  66%  [ 2 ]

English football this season has been dominated by stories of financial woe (Chester City, Forest Green Rovers, Notts County, AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and probably any other club that are choosing to keep things schtum for now!)

But the most high profile club to suffer is Portsmouth. Regardless of circumstances they're in dire trouble; debts of upto £80million which is sure to increase should they be relegated, the unwanted fact they are the first Premier League side to enter administration...and a very low club morale.

Yet despite this, a 9-point penalty for entering administration may yet be avoided because of the nature of the admittance (it was in all fairness, voluntarily compared to every other club doing it with great reluctance)...and they're in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, guaranteed at least another £500,000 in winnings which would climb into seven figures should they beat Tottenham or Fulham and make it to the Final...and while the points are still unaffected they still are only a few points from safety in the Premier League.

As long as the points aren't deducted, Pompey are far from dead. But what do you think will happen? Most people believe relegation is the best direction...that may be so, but Premier League survival would see the revenue still higher than that of a Championship club, with or without parachute payments.

Discuss :)

I voted that if there's no points deduction then they might...but only because of the other likely relegation contenders.

Burnley are simply not good enough, I fully expect them to go down. Hull I want to see stay up, to continue what Paul Merson said about finishing 17th every season being a success...Wolves have some hard matches still to pay...Bolton aren't out of the woods just yet, and nor are Wigan...it's going to be a massive ask for Portsmouth but on squads alone they could easily do it...the club morale however, stops it from being easy.

Anything is possible in football though!

Not sure. Portsmouth have fifty times the spirit and determination of any other club in the Premiership, of all but one other club in the Fizzy Pop league. But they can only seem to win at Wembley, maybe they should consider making a bid for the place.

Wembley owner people: "Yep, that'll be £250 million please Mr Andronikou."
Andronikou: "Will you take 3p for it? Sorry mate, it's all we've got. Bit tied down at the moment, see. You know, the odd £17 million tax issue, £60 million in debt, you know, the usual."

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Oooh I'd buy it for £25 million! It's worth at least 25 times that!
