One trend I've noticed with some French Canadian game shows is that when the regular show is not airing, a condensed version with lower stakes airs in its place. SRC did this with Paquet Voleur by airing Paquet Voleur Express during the summer months. Instead of playing for a $100,000 grand prize with eight contestants, the game was played with half the contestants and a $3,000 grand prize.

Where am I going with this? Let me explain.

I just finished a five-game "season" of regular Le Banquier games. A new five-game season will begin sometime soon, but until then, I figured we could try an "Express" version of Le Banquier. I spent some time figuring out how it would work, and this is what I've come up with.

16 cases

Player choses one case for themself

Round 1 - 4 cases to open
Round 2 - 3 cases to open
Rounds 3 and 4 - 2 cases to open
Round 5 - 1 case to open

Given that the top prize on Le Banquier is $500,000, Le Banquier Express would be played for a $50,000 jackpot and with this board.

$1
$5
$10
$20
$50
$100
$250
$500

----------
$1,000
$3,000
$5,000
$10,000
$15,000
$20,000
$35,000
$50,000

Unlike the parent show, Le Banquier Express will not feature any sponsor prizes. Replacing them will be the Supercase, which is played similar to Box 23 on the UK version.

It is widely known that my mathematical knowledge is limited, a flaw that has been repeatedly exposed in my presentation. As a result, I would like to invite renowned math and stats expert American Coupon Boy to be the Banker for this version.

I would ask that our first contestant be someone other than Davao, as he often is the first to play certain modified versions of Deal. I'm not doing this to discriminate or exclude; rather, it's being done out of fairness and for variety's sake.

So, who wants to give this a shot?

I'll blaze the trail this time if you like, Mark! :D

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Well, you've proven to be good at playing lower-stakes games - congrats again on winning two quid, by the way :smt023 - so you get to be the guinea pig, Dan. We'll start just as soon as B-Rod indicates whether or not he wants to be the Banker.

Thanks! I'll spend it wisely, if Banksy decides to pay up... :suspect: :-D

Yeah, no, it was a hard-fought encounter, and at times it looked as if I was heading for pennies, but I did what I always do, I clung on for dear life and waged war on that inevitable decline, because it wasn't inevitable, because I knew I could get that £2, and so it proved. Confidence is half of the problem - and half of the solution. :P

Looking forward to this, and in particular, a tussle with Ben, that eminent figure in world literature...I feel one of us has a point to prove to this forum, the other perhaps not... ;)

Every time someone here says Banksy, the first thing I think of is the famous graffiti artist. Surely you've heard of him; he's a fellow countryman on yours. My uncle is a huge fan of his.

Yes, that quest for £2 was one of the hardest-fought battles I'd ever seen since the Games section was launched. I'm so pleased that you didn't win the one pee, Dan :smt023. You beat a formidable opponent in Chef Gordon Ramsay.

Ben is indeed an eminent figure in the literary world. I understand he's collaborating with Stephen Covey on a new book on effective business management techniques. Apparently, one concept they are currently reviewing is that of nuisances in the office environment.

I understand they're using a rather interesting term to describe these individuals - Mad Marks. If that tome ever sees the light of day, I would expect to get a royalty from these fine gentlemen ;).

Banksy, yes - I'm a great fan myself. He was the inspiration behind me coining the phrase here as a moniker for The Banker; as for where B-Rod and G-RAMZ came from, I've no idea... :P
