I attended a conference in Las Vegas recently, and I realized that there was a way that the thrill of gambling there can be integrated into our favourite box- or case-opening game.

Thus, I give you Las Vegas Deal. It's a standard game of Deal or No Deal, but it's split into two parts.

Part 1: Classic Deal or No Deal
Very straightforward. You play a regular game of Deal with a $500,000 board. I'm unsure whether the game will feature 22 or 26 cases.

Part 2: Card Sharks
In Part 2, you use whatever you won in Part 1 to play the Money Cards bonus round from Card Sharks (Play Your Cards Right for you UK folk). A number of cards from a standard deck are dealt out onto three levels, and you then bet a portion of your winnings on whether the next card will be higher or lower than the one before it. You can also change the first card on any of the three levels using one of three spare cards dealt out at the outset. The minimum bet is $100 until you reach the third level, the Big Bet, where you must bet at least half your money.

There are also three Jokers shuffled into the deck, and finding then allows you to play a special bonus game for a new car. Players receive one Joker for free for advancing to Part 2 in order to guarantee one shot at the car.

If you think about it, Part 2 takes the concept of Box 23, and turns it into its own game. In the Money Cards round, you can double your winnings, add $10,000 or more to them, lose half in the Big Bet with an incorrect prediction, or go bust.

That being said, who wants to be the guinea pig?

I'd suggest that you use the US syndicated board for the main game. It's quite risky from the sart so it fits well with the Las Vegas theme.

Also, I'd suggest that you cut the money won in the main game in half and use it as the base for each of the first two rows. Also, doubles/pairs should result in a push (i.e. no money gained or lost) as it would be unfair otherwise (as you're automatically screwed over if a pair comes up and the player can't cut the cqrds so as to avoid that).

And finally, I'll gladly play on the pilot episode. :smt023

Hey, Ben. Those sound like some great ideas. I forgot about the push rule, and splitting up the money between the first two levels makes sense.

I'll get everything set up for you, and we'll start the game shortly. And yes, I have an actual deck of casino-used cards at home that will add to the Las Vegas exeperience (although they're from the Montreal casino).

Thanks for your interest :smt023.
