With all the controversy going on at the moment about it, I felt it worthy of a discussion!
So discuss?
Is Deal Or No Deal safe?

Well, DOND itself is safe, though they could pull the plug on the LTL if that was felt to be potentially dodgy in any way - they would just put up the "competition closed" captions like they do on repeats.

I wonder what proportion of the show's revenue comes from the LTL? It was clearly thought up at the start to help them in being able to offer contestant prize money that was unprecedented on daytime TV. But the show has surely been much more successful than anyone imagined at the start in terms of ratings and advertising revenue. And I'm sure nobody watches DOND solely for the slim chance of winning £10k or so through this competition?

Did you hear what they did on brainteaser?

The put random names up, and made one of the crew to call up and give an answer! *beep *beep*

An ex-contestant - Pam - said that they make quite a bit from it - she said she'd heard from one of the production team that they get something like 300,000 calls a day from the LTL!

Her post on the subject matter was here - http://www.dond.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 062#252062

On BBC News yesterday, there was a discussion about these phone in competitions, and DOND was mentioned by one of the guests who said that they have lawyers there to make sure everything goes as it should do.
