Of these two amounts on the DoND gameboard that are less than £1, do either of these have any buying power whatsoever nowadays,?

Since London's COL is higher, we probably should put London in a seperate category for this.

I've seen 1p sweets in one corner shop/newsagent very close to my university hall.

They also sell Chomp bars for 10p, which is great as everywhere else sells them for 15p now, and I'm not paying that when Fudge bars are 15p everywhere...

10p also buys a Flump or a roll of Frosties (no, not THOSE Frosties, but these) in the Student Union shop.

50p? That's about 100g of pick-and-mix if you get lucky. You can also get decent-sized flapjacks in the Student Union shop though the bigger and better ones are 59p. And one shop in Southampton sells Mars and Snickers bars for 23p... so you can get two of those and four penny sweets ;)

Quite a few chocolate bars are on offer for just 35p at the moment - they're not out of date, just on offer. So you for 50p theoretically you could get a Terry's Chocolate Orange chocolate bar and a fudge (for 15p).

Also you could get 5 of those refresher bar things, they're 10p each.

yes I spend most of my student loan on sweets!!

yes but your better off having 50p hovering around rather uncomfortably in your back pocket than wasting it and killing yourself.Ciggies are the one and only time when i am strongly again spending.Otherwise im a spendaholic. :-D
