A sad day for snooker - Paul Hunter has died this evening from cancer. He had been suffering from it for a couple of years but battled on strongly and continued to play snooker whenever he could. He won the Masters tournament three times.

Being a bit of a snooker fan, I always liked Paul Hunter for his down to earth personality and lack of arrogance. His death comes as a real loss to the sport, and he will be sadly missed; my thoughts are with his family.

I'm not really into snooker, but he was one of the players I had heard of and he was very good. A real tragedy, especially since he was 5 days from being 28 and leaving behind a 10 month old daughter.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Poor Paul. My thoughts are with his parents, wife Lindsey and daughter Evie Rose.

My best memories of Paul have to be when he won the Masters at Wembley three times recoving to win on the final frame 10-9.
2001 beat Fergal O'Brien recovering from 7-3. 2002 beat Mark Williams recoving from 5-0 and 2004 beating Ronnie O'Sullivan recovering from 7-2.

A great character snooker has lost.

I was extremely upset when I heard last night at 10pm about him.

He was not only fabulous player on the the table but a lovely guy away from it. He always had time for his fans.

He was also such a talent having so nearly reaching a world snooker final, only to be pipped at post by Ken Docherty. He was a future word champion according to a lot of snooker commentators.

It was a joy to watch all of his games.

My thoughts go out to his lovely wife Lyndsey and their 10 month old daughter, Evie Rose.

R.I.P. Paul Hunter :(

Caz

paul, even my mates were talking about you, and you have shown us that however poor, ill, even almost dead you are, however and whatever illness you have, you can still lead a normal life, just persevere, persevere.
