Very spotty bananas can make some lovely Rice Bread. Yummy.
Purple Bananas have a another taste which is so delicious.

‘Banana wave’ hits Dutch islands

Thousands of bananas have been washed up on two Dutch islands in the North Sea after several containers “fell” off a cargo ship in a storm, officials say.

They say beaches on Terschelling and Ameland islands were littered with bunches of unripe fruit - to the delight of some local residents. "I think everybody has a bunch now," a Terschelling official was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. It was not clear if the bananas were edible after floating in salty water.

Local authorities are now in talks with the ship's insurance company on what to do with the bananas. Some local residents had already suggested sending them to Dutch zoos. The two islands are about 115km (70 miles) north of Amsterdam.

An Indian suspect was forced by police to eat 50 bananas as a laxative, to retrieve a necklace he was accused of stealing and swallowing.

When the bananas failed to produce the desired effect, police fed Sheikh Mohsin rice, chicken and local bread. Finally the necklace, which appeared on an X-ray taken on the suspect, was excreted and retrieved.

Mr Mohsin will appear in court on Monday in the eastern city of Calcutta, and could face a prison sentence. Police say he snatched a gold necklace worth £550 ($1,100) from a woman as she shopped for toys on Saturday. When cornered by police, he swallowed the necklace.

The suspect was fed 50 bananas on doctor's advice, after the X-ray dealt a blow to his denials. But only after a further meal did he yield the necklace, Calcutta police deputy commissioner Gyanwant Singh told AFP news agency.

A sweeper was paid to retrieve the exhibit from the toilet. Mr Mohsin was asked to wash it.

Anybody remember Banana Bubbles cereal? It was out a zillion years ago. I luvved it

I like my bananas either when they’ve just turned yellow or a little bit spotty - when they’re ripe basically, it means they’re ready to eat. Green bananas aren’t ready to be eaten yet and taste horrible. Brown bananas are over ripe and taste too sweet and go all squashy and bruised, and the texture is furry and dry. Yuck. I don’t think I’ve ever had a purple banana before, although they do look tasty.

I’ve just made banana on toast with cream (because I like to be experimental) and it was delicious!
