Sometimes there's not a choice if you're desperately in need of something.

However, Tesco is normally my main choice, followed by Co-op.

I actively avoid Sainsbury's... I just can't stand it for some reason. :?

I seem to spend half my life in Sainsbury's... Waitrose is the best although we haven't got one here. Clearly this town isn't posh enough...

OMFG... why is there Tuffins???? I shall write to my husband Mr Tuffin who died many years ago to let him know the news.

I shop in Tesco mainly cos I live in Tesco land, not only do we have flagship store we have head office, food testing place, staff training place, other dodgy buildings where they could be torturing staff for all I know... and we have 6 Tesco stores in Cheshunt... I kid u not.

I do get bored of going same shop tho so do go Sainsburys and Asda every now and then.

Netto... OK being serious:

Tesco
M&S [But our local one closed down]
Sanisbury's

I use any of the below for smaller shops:
One Stop [I use that most]
Co-Op
Tesco Express
Nisa Today
Smile

I cannot stand Asda.

I detest the Co-Op but would use any of the major retailers (with the exception of ASDA). I'm also a great fan of Waitrose... very good stores.

I shall give my verdict on all of the above:

Aldi - Terrifyingly cheap, terrifyingly low quality, terrifyingly few stores for ovbious reasons, terribly un-terrifying security guards. That's all I need say for Aldi. It's not worth a full investigation. I'd give it overall, 3/10.

ASDA - Hahahahahahahahaha, muahahahahah mehehehehe.....well well. Looking to be The Best for 12 years running....and that record won't end there. Surely the best value for money, ASDA is the choice of the homeless, those on the dole and those living in relative poverty. It's also my choice, as I'm not usually given much cash to play with anyway. When I go to ASDA, I can spend £5 on pasta, the newspaper (local; 42p), broccoli, other vegetables, and most importantly my all-important loaf of ASDA bread. It's a rotisserie, a fishmonger's, a vet's, a lingerie shop, a baker's.....it's everything. I'd give ASDA a 10/10.

Budgens - Can't say much on Budgens. Poor, very bad value for money, very cold instore. 2/10.

Co-op: Relatively good value in this store, but nothing is really appealing. Certainly not your one-stop corner shop. You have to keep going back to see if they've finally got what you want in stock. 5/10.

Costcutter: Who?

Iceland: Cold, rather like the country. Unfriendly service, only sells fish and pot noodles. Shouldn't be a shop. 1.5/10.

Lidly: Very good value for money, good products, friendly service, nice straight in-then-out type of shop. My perfect supermarket - but also the same thing as Aldi. 7/10.

M & S: Good for bras and other lingerie, not much else. For the visual factors, 6/10.

Morrisons: No. Sorry. Smaller, worse version of ASDA that makes you pay double the appropriate price for everything. 1/10.

J. Sainsbury's: Don't mind it. Not overly good; not overly bad. Prices let it down. 4/10.

Somerfield: They still exist?

Tesco: Well. Like our version of Walmart. Tedious, VERY big.....only difference is that Tesco is worse at pricing its products than Morrisons. Abysmal performance customer-wise here. 0/10.

Tuffins: Eh? Who? I've heard of Butlins...

Waitrose: Good for special treats, otherwise absolutely horrific. AND BLOODY COLD INSIDE. 2.5/10.

I voted for ASDA.

I think you're getting Somerfields confused with Safeway. I've seen a good few Somerfields recently.

The Tesco pricing is a bit odd sometimes... For example at the moment there is an offer on in our local Tesco where it's one energy saving lamp for 51p, or 4 energy saving lamps [of the same type] for 39p...

I also bought a deck chair for £1.99

£1.99?

You could at least have haggled with them, down to just 99p at least. And even THAT's too dear...

Asda?

Sainsbury's is my favourite, followed by Tesco. There's a Co-op near my house which I go to occasionally, but I'm not too keen on it.

I think he means that it's like our plague. Walmart in America is huge and what they do is open near small shops with really low prices, and so the locals go there and the local shop has to close, then Walmart put their prices back up once they have closed... It's evil, although Tesco aren't like that.

Old M&Ws and One Stops are all owned by Tesco anyway.
