I've just finished 'Frankie' by Kevin Lewis. It is really an amazing read... I didn't really read that many books before but it hooked me right from the start. It's about a girl who has run-away from home for some secret reason (you find out later in the book), She has been on the streets of London for 4 years and is 19. She murders this pimp called Bob Strut who was going to either harm her or her friend. She is on the run and steals a locket from a lady walking on the street... little does she know how many secrets that locket holds. She uses the bank card and takes out money then visits bath where she went as a child. She starts a new life there meeting June; who persuaded her to work in her flower shop and her boyfriend Keith. But... all her dreams are about to be ruined.

I am now moving on to a book called 'Severed' by Simon Kernick... from the back of the book it sounds very interesting.

I think the last time I properly read a book was when I was at school, and that was well over two years ago!

I don't read much, and any reading that I do is on the internet. I occasionally read the newspaper and magazines when I have nothing else to do but other than that I hardly ever read.

Reading books is something I want to get back into doing because it is meant to improve your literacy and widen your vocabulary. The only thing that puts me off reading is that I'm quite a fussy reader and it takes a good book for me to really get stuck in and one that I can relate to.

Some books I just can't get into no matter how hard I try. I have to read the first couple of pages about 10 times over and I still don't understand what it's about. When that happens I tend to just interpret into what I think it's about and make it up as I go along.

I'd reccommend 'Frankie', banker. It was written by Kevin Lewis. I wasn't a reader at all but it drew me in good and proper. I'm not saying that it'll definately draw you in, because I don't know, but it is a really good book and I think you'll enjoy it!! :D

I was up to 12:30 on a school night reading it because the plot was very exciting and I kept on wanting to know what was on the next page!!

One of them by Phillip Pullman. The Amber Spyglass, I think.

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Sounds like me, when I was a kid I read tons, I was always with a book but now days I have even stopped buying the newspaper during the week and read them online.

I would love to get back into reading but if a book doesnt catch me on the first 2 pages I wont bother with it.

I have two on the go ATM, but my main one I'm focusing on is The Kiterunner. I have to read it for my AS course and I am absolutely hooked on it and can't stop thinking about it! I don't know if anyone else has read it but it is a really sad book. I am completely shocked by the story, and I am only two thirds of the way through! If anyone else wants me to go into what the story is about, then please say.

I've heard it's a depressing novel but a really gripping one too...give us a little bit about the book please :)

NB: A coincidence you revive this thread exactly a year later? :P
