Looks like Mike isn't around to do this week's poll, so I thought I'd run this week's, after a startling discovery I've made this morning!

Fan or not, social websites such as Facebook and MySpace have reunited many people with people from their pasts, and up until now I've had no such luck; I specificly remember everybody's names from Coventry, but to no avail! :(

But this morning, someone added me as a friend, he has exactly the same name as me; first and last!!! He lives in Brisbane, Australia.

I have always known that I have family down in Australia, and do know a few names of relatives down there. After a small chat with my namesake, we got round to wondering the possibility if we were related or not - and then I asked him for names of his family, and the names he gave me matched the names I gave him!!! :D And then just to make sure it wasn't one huge coincidence, their email addresses matched the ones my dad has for them!!!

It is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, without trying to sound sad!

So whether it be old friends, or indeed family you never thought you had, has anyone else also found a wonder from doing a bit of searching on these sites?

Not me personally, although there are some GREAT examples of where people have been re-united etc. thanks to Facebook and MySpace. I voted "no and not bothered" as I wouldn't particularly want to get into contact with some long lost cousin or something. I make an effort to keep in touch with the people I want to keep in touch with, so Facebook and so on isn't much use to me in that regard.

Yeah i've been rather busy and had some internet problems so I haven't been on-line much over the last week.

As for reunions on the net I haven't prersonally had any and to be honest I don't really use MySpace and Facebook despite the fact that the majority of people seem to have one. And whilst it could be interesting and nice to have a reunion with someone that you once knew or is related to you it could also turn out the opposite way and cause you more hassle.

So whilst some people out there get more than they expected on these websites and find people that they'd never expect to, it's just not for me.

No, considering i have no family on either Myspace or Facebook.

I may use it in the future though, it will be useful to keep in contact with school mates when im off at uni.

I don't have a Facebook or Myspace account and though I have great memories of yore I tend to look forward not back.

When FriendsReunited was all the rage years ago I opened up an account and got back in touch with a lot of old mates but truth be known I wasn't interested in what they were up to at all. Things had moved on and we all had new lives.

I've only kept in contact with one mate from my teens through the years and I always visit him when I go down to England. I can't help thinking that if they meant that much you would have stayed in contact anyway.

But well done Divvy on discovering a ginger twin.

I've only kept in regular contact with one friend from school, and he is a real friend. :-)

I think it's VERY adequate to bump this thread. Given what's just happened.

First, a recap: that Brisbane namesake who found me, ended up deleting his account last summer! I do hope I had nothing to do with it! ;)

Secondly, I've finally found some people from Coventry, bearing in mind I had no luck last year, and Facebook was nowhere near as popular as it is now! (this time last year everybody preferred MySpace to Facebook...haha my how times change...)

I've left messages for another few; here's hoping they at least remember the "ginger tw*t" in Year 2!
